I got to MSP at about 7am for an 8am departure. I was allowed to select my seat since the flight wasnt compleatly full. I selected 36A, a nice window seat behind the wing, just what i like. I boarded at gate C16. Th aircraft was N551NW. deliverd in 01 it had LCD screens in the isle, sadly NW never uses them.
after waiting a while at the gate the captan apoligized for the delay. finnaly we pushed back and the engines started...whoo!! but no... we didnt move for a while after the engines were started and when we finnaly did it was back to the gate! the captan came on again and said the left engine wasnt working right. mechs came out about 15 min later and after about another 30 min it was determined that we had to get a differnt aircraft. so after about 2hrs of sitting on that plane we went no where and had to get off! they told us to go down to C1 where new aircraft was assigned to 841. this aircraft was older, one of the late 80's 757s NW has. N523NW. i was called to the desk and given a new seat.....23A. why they changed i dunno, maybe they thought id like to sit closer to the front? at least it was still a window....thou the view was partially blocked thanx to the wing and engine.
we took off about 3 hrs late. for an aircraft nearly fully loaded it was still powerful! 757s are amazing
other than that delay the flight went well, F/As came around as soon as we were at FL350. the snack box and sandwiches were offerd...i passed as i just had a slice of pizza during the change of planes. I had a pepsi to drink...got the whole can. legroom was good, im short anyway so that never matters. after the F/As were done there was about 5 hrs left. no IFE and no free food. I had my i pod and a window, really i could care les about that stuff, im flying!
F/As came around a few times with water but mostly they hid for the rest of the flight.
as we got closer to ANC i could see mtns under the clouds...wow they were beautiful!
the landig was good...being right next to the engine made the sound of reverse thrust really loud!! i loved it! I have a landing video i will try to upload it soon.

All flights have great IFE...get yourself a window seat, thats something no PTV can beat! flew 808 Pacific an Atlanic

Nice report. I appreciated your pics of the various birds at ANC -- very cool! Just curious, what was the intention of your trip? (If you're willing to share). I have a few classmates that were very likely on the same exact flight, as well, en-route to perform mission work in AK.

Nice pics, I have flown that same flight many times, if your sitting on the right side of the aircraft there are some incredible views. Left side isnt bad, but one can see the Wrangell-StElias range nicely on that side. I also got to see an incredible view of the northern lights on the ANC-MSP leg of it. First time in my life they appeared to be below me. Not sure if this was an illusion or what, but a nice flight. I hope you enjoyed AK, and the 206 flight.
