Toook off from Boston for a short trip to ACY. It was a chartered flight from S & S casinos books by Harrah's.

The price was great seeing it was our first time to ACY. My wife and I go to Vegas once a year but can't do it this year so it's the next best thing.

Ryanair (Gold Members) From what hear greeted us along with 113 people. Flight crew was great. There were 3 F/A and I think the reason why were to the fact alot of older people in the 60's.

Plane was a 737-200 and it was showing it's age inside and out. The seats were comfortable and clean but the front of the plane and rear you could see the age. The cockpit door was open when boarding and wow talk about going back in time compared to a newer 738.

Flight lasted about 55 mins and had a seat over the wing row 12A. You could see a few repainted spots on the left wing. Cloudy all the way till about 50 miles out and then you could see the ocean below. Alot of white caps and an ocean liner that appeared to be about an inch long at arms lenght.

Landing was smooth and as soon as the rear wheels hit the Thrust-reversers were deployed. I would hear a lady behind me say how she hates when they put the breaks on LOL....

Since it was a junket trip there were 3 tour buses waiting for us and off we went. It was 10:30am when we arrived at the Showboat, and we had till wait till 3pm for hotel checkin.

Out to the Boardwalk (as if was our 1st trip to AC) and was nothing like we were told it was. We found it to be clean, not dirty and unsafe as many told us.

About 11:30am we headed to the Buffet. I took out my money and noticed my drivers license missing. I looked everywhere 3 times. I went to the front desk and made a call to security and nothing. I was given the # to ACY security and called them again nothing same with Boston Security.

At 3pm we had a group check in. I told the group tour leader and she promised to call Gold Members and the bus company. She said not to worry about the return flight as I was checked in through Boston.

Well We never did find it and was told the horror show I would have getting a replacement.

Gambling was not good. The wife and I saw many jackpots for decent amounts but never game close. Drink service was nothing short of great, and the drinks were strong. We always tip $1.50 for a drink not bad seeing they cost alot more at the bar.

About 2 hours before we left we were on the Boarkwalk heading to the Showboat and low and behold a Seagull decided to choose me as their target. Like a precision dive-bomber he managed to shit right in my shirt pocket.
When my wife stopped laughing she said it was good luck. After going to the restroom to clean up (our luggage was not available for a change) we hit the slots. I put in a $100.00 bill and played a few hands and hit nothing so I told the wife to play the rest out and again no luck.

Tour bus came and we were back to the airport at 4PM for our 6pm flight back to Boston. I told the ticket counter I lost my ID and was given a ticken marked "SSSS". Off to Security and was wanded and patted down and went through the whole 9 yards. The Security Officer could not say they were sorry enough, I said hey it;'s your job and understandable and it was not a problem.

We boarded the plane at 5:30pm. At 5:58 we were told one person was missing and we would wait a few mins. A few mins later the Capt said we would be delayed 30 mins as a small plane landed and blew a tire. I could see the small plane from my seat along with alot of trucks with lights. It seemed like a mooney.

Well 30 mins later and the Capt said it would be 30 mins longer. Something must have hit the older people LOL as now I could hear theones on the right side saying they took off our luggage and wanted to know why. The F/A said they did not the older people said they did too. Finally the F/A said they did it to sell it on Ebay LOL, I died laughing. Then some said there was a problem with the plane as we had a mechanic hopping a right back.

After an Hour and 45 min delay we took off. We landed in Bos 40 mins later, come to find out the Capt just got his license and this was his 1st trip as Captain. I never got to congratulate him as the cockpit door never opened due to them having to return to Pittsburg.

Push back at the gate in Boston

Well I hope you enjoyed our fair city.... Ryan's planes are looking worn, but you don't get to fly 737-200's to much anymore. Nice report.

My wife and I enjoyed it very much. I can't understand why so many people told us to be real carefull? We walked the Boardwalk at night and never had a problem or felt in danger.

The buffets are a bit overpriced, but the food was good and fresh. All the locals we talked to were nothing but nice to boot.

We look forward to going back, we hope the next trip will be airfare and hotel free  Smile

A lot of that reputation goes back to the 80's and early 90's when it was still pretty bad, and while I don't suggest walking the inlet area at night, the boardwalk seems to be fine now at night.

I was just there two days ago on a 3 days trip I flew for someone....pretty neat place...the boardwalk is cool along with most of the hotels/casinos...I still see where some people (including myself) can get a bit nervous walking around the place at night....theres a lot of poverty behind the hotels which is pretty clear....lots of panhandling and what not...although as someone mentioned before the place is much better than the 80's and 90's...mob corruption is somewhat gone from the city or not as evident....none the less cool trip report and glad you enjoyed it! gottah love the 200 series. -josh

I don't think it's any Diff then Las Vegas as far as poverty and panhandlers. Also no porn pushers, and just a few timeshare people.
I have no idea the crime rate in AC or homeless rates. I do know Vegas numbers are high in both.

As I said it's not Vegas, but then again Vegas is not AC. AC offers the casino's and the beach for those hot summer days  Smile

We heard rumors there are more casinos going up in the near future?

Actually they just closed the "Sands", they are going to tear it down and build a megaresort a little bigger than the Borgata. Should be neat to see.

Wow I just checked the Sands site and they are still taking reservations?

I hope by placing a Mega resort they don't forget the everyday gambler like Vegas is doing. Also in some ways others may offer some sweet deals.
