With a one week break in uni I booked a return flight on BD so I could go home and visit family and friends.

OUTBOUND

BD57 Edinburgh to Heathrow
A319

I checked in online the day before so I would have a better choice of seats have and if I was late on the bus or train I would at least have a good seat. The aircraft was a A319 which is a first for me. I selected 23C which is the last row and there is only 2 seats each side. My seat was what would have been the middle apart from there was a nice gap between me and the asile. I always prefer the aisle seat in case the flight is full as I'm constrphobic and like the bit more space you get. Luckly no-one else booked the window seat so I had a whole row to myself. The aircraft was 20 minutes late in from LHR. When we was on board we were told that 5 passengers were missing and would have to off load their luggage, luckly just after that they showed up. Something which made me laugh was that when the Captain came on the PA to tell us the reason he said "i don't know why people bother to check-in if they can't be bothered to go to the gate".

A smooth flight with some turbulance into LHR. One down side was that I was hoping for something to eat but there were no sandwiches or salads left. The second time this has happened on a BD flight. Service was of normal BD standard although the aircraft didn't look to good considering that the A319 fleet isn't that old.

INBOUND

BD60 LHR-MAN
ERJ-145 (bmi regional)

Having spent a week with my family it was time to return back to uni. I like travelling on the regional fleet as I have always managed to get an indivdual seat. Also if its a regional route you get the free food and drink as well. I feel that it adds to the whole experience. Anyway, I got to Terminal 1 4 hours ahead of my flight as the coach journey was on time for a change! I had already checked-in the night before and selected seat 4A.
Our flight was an hour late in the end as it was late coming in. After we had been told that the aircraft had been cleaned and re-catered we was allowed to board. I didn't mind the wait as the views from Gate 8 are great to watch aircraft landing and taking very close. After take off we was then told that they had no sandwiches and salads on board! So the aircraft didn't get re-catered then. The inflight service was fast as there were 3 crew on board as I think one of the FA's was in training or dead-heading maybe as she was been showned how to do things.
After a normal flight we arrived in EDI after a 1 hour and 12 minute as we was told.

Overall a very plesent 2 flights with BD although I am getting annoyed about there not being any sandwiches and salads as each time I have flown I have wanted to buy some. You watch, next time I fly and don't want some they will have them in stock.

Sorry about there been no pics but I'm always stuck at the window watching the aircraft I forget to take pics.

Nice report, many thanks.

Not flown Bmi since 1992 and have no plans to do so, unless it is to catch an ER-135/145 flight.

Bmi reports show consistent lack of service - how long can they survive??

Rgds
