Check out YVR - LAS if you haven't already. This one's not as detailed, but read on anyways...
Got to the airport at 3.30 for a planned 6.20 departure.
The flight was departing out of LAS's Terminal 2. It's the one that has 8 gates, 3 shops, and a ceiling of about 7 ft. The one that looks more like a Greyhound station. Anyways, the checkin counter was out of view from the others. Turned out all the Canadian bound flights were all crammed in one section of the building.
GlobeGround agent was again the checkin agent. (I wished I was on the Air Canada flight.)
Agent told us the plane was delayed because the original plane in Manila had a mechanical problem, and they had to wait for another A340. That pushed the whole schedule back. It was now departing at 7.40
Passed through security and tried out their infamous air puffing machine. After security, tried to go plane spotting but it was starting to get dark out and there was no aircraft at any of the gates. Seriously. The departure screens were all showing Canada or Mexico bound flights, all of which had yet to arrive.
Anybody else notice the irony? digital...
An Air Canada flight arrived from Vancouver. (Sorry, too dark, no pics)
A Mexicana flight also had a delayed arrival, making lots of people at gate 4 fustrated.
Time passed, and the aircraft finally arrived at 6.15. A Mexicana passenger still waiting for his aircraft to arrive got jealous I think, and went shouting "When's Mexicana!?" to our gate agent repeatedly.
Preboard announcement was made, which was about 70% of the passengers (kids and their parents, seniors), so they just forgot about that...
Doors closed 15 minutes early, and we wheeled up at 7.40.
A bit off topic, but here's a neat thing.
It's under every seat, and it's for passengers to step on to help them reach the overhead bins.
Ironically, no passengers needed them, it was the flight attendant. I thought there has to be some height requirement, but I saw many of the flight attendants needing that step to be able to close the bins.
Meal service took about an hour, because of that seatbelt sign. I like how Philippine has their food service divided in cabins. Economy, for instance, is divided into three sections. And so three carts are serving one aisle simutaneously.
They did the duty free (this time the flight attendants did not sit down when the seatbelt sign went on), and then switched off the lights for the remaining 45 minutes.
The lights came on again after 15 minutes, because it was time for descent.
All went normal...Landed at 10pm (40 minutes delayed).
Vancouver's very nice welcome sign. (They also had the jetway walls plastered with welcome in many different languages)

Customs was a breeze, it was just "go into anyline"
Luggage came out a bit slow...
Then we walked out into the pickup area, and I waved to some imaginary people, feeling important and pretending that there was someone there to pick us up. But we took a taxi home.

This trip indeed reminds me the time when I was a teenager in Europe and most airlines around the world had traffic right when they got to Europe and when they would stop in 1 or 2 big airports there. I flew:

If you have ever arrived/departed LAS at the main domestic terminal, you should be very happy indeed that PR uses the International terminal, even though it is small. kind of reminds me of a smaller version of Reno's airport. I found the lack of congestion a relief compared to the main terminal, and also the lineup at security. On arrival baggage delivery was real quick. I arrived/departed on AC. I would take that terminal any day!
The only thing a customer should expect for his/her loyalty is good service

Wow. Neat! A flight on Philippine Airlines, within the North American continent, on a widebody -- an A340, no less. Fantastic!
Plus, a small-terminal experience. I find them fun & frustrating, at the same time, and in equal portions. They remind me of the "good old days" of air travel (which I sadly could never experience) with all their sense of adventure and frustration at a lack of decent places to buy food & books.
