Flight- CO 4093
Equip- ERJ-145ER (Reg # N13935)
Scheduled Departure: 9:40AM
Actual Departure: 9:50AM
Woke up around 6:00AM for the ride to the airport with my father. After getting a quick bite to eat at McDonald's we proceeded to Bradley for my 9:40AM departure to Cleveland. Getting off the Bradley conector from I-91, I see the nice new 3500 parking spot garage in front of the terminal A. What a nice new garage, and also see the new terminal and concourse construction moving rather quickly. My dad drops me off in front of Terminal A which is home to United (2 gates), Continental (1 gate), America West (1 gate) and US Airways (6 gates). I say my goodbyes to my father and I am soon off to the CO ticket counter. The line is fairly long at both the elite line and regular lines so I decide to use the E-Check in which had no line and also will give me an extra 1,000 bonus miles. After using the E-Check in for the first time I was very impressed how easy it was and liked the fact that you can pick any seat you want. At this time I changed my seat on the CLE trip to 6C instead of 2A and also found that my flight was upgraded to seat 1A on the CLE-PHX flight. I noticed that seat 2F had nobody to the left of it so I proceeded to change my seat to that. After checking in which took about 5 minutes, I then went to pick up a newspaper and magazine from one of BDL's newstands.
The time was now around 8:30AM and the inbound ERJ from CLE was still not on the ground so I decided to go to the walkway between terminal A and B to watch some aircraft. Since most of the morning departures had already left, I did not see many aicraft on the ground. At gate B24 was a America West A320 waiting its departure to PHX and a SW 73G was to the right waiting its MDW flight. In the background were 2 Northwest DC-9's and at cocourse A was one Metrojet 737-200 going to MCO and a US 757 going to CLT. Also saw 2 Comuteair B1900's which were using gate A2, which would be the gate I would be using later on to borad flights to BUF and BGM. After a few minutes of watching some planes, I then went to security checkpoint of Concourse A. After being hand searched for about 5 minutes because the detector was kept going off, the lady finally let me in. Sometimes you get so anoyed because they dont know that belt buckles and some boots make them go off, but at least they do a good job of not taking any chances. I have a short walk to gate A2 which is the first gate to the left of the concourse. The ERJ is still not there so I sit down and read the Hartford Courant. After a few minutes the ERJ finally arives at about 8:45AM. What seems like a full load deplanes, the cleaning crew then goes in and takes what seems to be a long time cleaning the small plane. At 9:20 initial boarding begins and I am the second in line to board.
After boarding the plane, I notice how nice and new the plane seems to be. After looking up the reg # I find out that the plane was delivered in 1997. The leather seats were in great condition and were very comfortable. Leg room was decent, but the cabin of a ERJ does feel very cramped standing up but once sitting it was fine. After boarding comensed, the one FA did the saftey demonstration in a rather funny manor because a guy in a seat ahead of me was making her laugh the entire time. Pushback began at 9:37AM and to my left was the HP A320 (N658AW) and to my right a US 737-300. As the ERJ begins to taxi, we pass by a US 757-200 (N628AU) at Gate A6, those 757's sure do look BIG from a ERJ point of view. After taking a right past concourse A, I get a good view of the new terminal and 12 gate concourse. It sure does look like its going to be nice. We pass a US DH8 and UA A320, and also a TWA MD80 which has been parked in the remote area for a few days, I guess mechanical problems. After passing a few cargo jets we head for Runway 24 and wait in line behind a DL express 737-200. We are airborn shorlty later at 9:50AM, 10 minutes behind schedule.
After a relatively bumpy roll down the runway we make our way into the broken clouds over Northern CT. The ERJ takes the bumps very good and after about 20 minutes the captain is on the PA. Flight time was said to be 1 hour and 24 minutes with a early arrival into CLE. The one FA came though the cabin offering a drink and a nice blueberry muffin at 10:20. I had a giner ale and enjoyed the muffin. Shortly after at 10:30 a snack mix was offered, something I dont remember on previous short flights, but a nice idea. I refused the mix and continued to read the newspaper. Decent began at 10:45AM into the CLE area and we were in position for arrival into runway 24L at 11:04 with wheels on the ground at 11:06 about a half hour early. After landing we headed to gate D5 in the comuter terminal which is very nice and saw the usual CO jets and parked next to N16502.

Flight- CO 1545
Equip- 737-724 (Reg #- N16709)
Scheduled Departure: 12:35PM
Actual Departure: 12:40PM
Load- First Class- 8/12
After a short walk to gate C3 and seeing many passengers on the way, I got to my gate and asked the agent if we were expecting a ontime departure. She said yes so I decided to continue with my newspaper. After about a half hour wait, initial boarding began at 12:00PM and I was the 5th in line to board the 73G. Was greeted by a nice African American lady who was the lead FA (forgot her name) and took my seat in 2F. The usual pre flight drink service was offered and I asked for a pepsi and she also brought me back a bag a pretzels which I thought was nice because she didnt for anyone else. I guess I must have looked like the youngest in FC or something. FC was initialy only 7/12 but before the door closed the 8th showed up. The seat to the left of me was unoccupied (I guess the seat maps really do work!) and I was able to put my belongings on that seat which was nice. Leg room was typical and the leather seat was very comfy for this aircraft which was delivered in 1998. Boarding took about a half hour, and after pushback began at 12:30 the drop down TV screens apeared for the saftey video. To the right of me was N34222 on its way to LAX and as the engines spooled up we began our taxi to runway 24L. We were thrid in line behind a ATR-72 and a 737-800 and airborne at 12:40PM about 5 minutes behind schedule.
Shrotly after take off, hot towels were provided and about 5 minutes later lunch orders were being taken. The lunch was a choice of Salad and soup or a sandwhich and soup. I chose the sandwhich and soup. Drink service was given around 1:05PM with a cup of hot nuts (not a big nut fan). While lunch was being made, I looked out the window and I believe we flew over Toledo express airport. I remember seeing a t-shapped runway pattern with a bunch of train tracks to I think the north end of the airport. Any ideas? At 1:15PM the movie started with the usual adds at the begining. The movie was Ms. Congeaneality (terrible speller!) and after hearing it was a great movie I later learned it was very bad and actually fell asleep. Lunch service followed shortly later at 1:20PM and after tasting the soup I was very unpleased of the taste however I did finish it. The sanwhich had a different taste to it but was not all that bad, overall I was not to pleased with the lunch, I have had much better! After lunch was served, I sat back and watched some of the movie, and also read some after falling asleep for maybe 25 minutes. Flight went by rather quickly and before I knew it was had begun out decent into the PHX area 1:25PM pacific time. I noticed a runway to the right which read 6-24 I believe, and had a golf course very near the airport. I was thinking Prescott? any ideas? The decent was rather smooth, had nice views of the huge Phoenix Metro area, and what seemed to be a rather high approach over the Mesa-Tempe area we touched down at 1:45PM pacific 15 minutes ahead of schedule. After touchdown with minimal thrust reversers, we taxied to gate B12 where to the right was N16701 and to the left a HP DH-8.
This segment- 8/10
Overall I enjoyed my trip once again on CO. The ERJ is a nice smooth flight and seats are very comfortable, however it does seem small inside. The 73G first class, my first time traveling in first on the 73G was comfortable. Service was good, frequent trips made to refill soda and at the end a nice gesture to how I liked my trip. The food on the CLE-PHX leg could have been better. The size of the meal was decent, but I am sure the dinner is much better. Overall I will give the entire trip a 8/10
Sorry for the many spelling mistakes, I dont re read it usually! Hope you enjoyed the rather long second half of my trip report. My next trip will be June 17th from BDL-PHX once again on I believe CO, not sure exactly.

The soup had a sort of chineese type noodles in it, was kind of spicey. As for the sandwhich, I was not sure what type it was exactly. I think it was a roastbeef type, had a sort of sour taste to it, and the bread wasnt too fresh.

Very nice trip report. I also want to try Continental soon, I have never flown with them and I would like to try Boeing 737NG and Embraer Jets. Do you feel a big difference maybe between a Boeing 737-300 and 700?

The only thing I notice different about a 73G and a 733 is obviously the entertainment systems which are the drop down kind and the newer interrior. However, CO's 733's are in pretty good shape and think some have evan been refurbished inside.
