Route: George - Johannesburg
Airline: Nationwide
Aircraft: Boeing 737-200 ZS-PIV
This flight formed part of my overall route back to Amsterdam via London Heathrow. George Airport has been undergoing some upgrades, a larger arrival and departures hall mainly and they are going to upgrade the restaurant area as well. There are more airlines serving the airport since I was last in George three years ago. Currently South African Express, Comair, Nationwide, Kulula and 1time all serve George.
As the airport is relatively small boarding is always pretty quick, our plane was parked at the end of the ramp.
While walking towards the aircraft I saw an HS748, the livery made it abundantly clear who the former operator was:
No prizes for guessing the former operator!
I was seated right behind business class so great leg room, made for a comfortable flight!
The service was very good, we were given a sandwich with chicken, mayo and apple and cheese filling, not bad. As we were just about to touch down, literally like 2 metres of the runway, a little kid behind me said to his mum, "that was a good landing wasn't it mummy?" to which the mother replied: "we haven't even landed yet!"
Nice bit of inflight humour for you there!
Johannesburg is a top airport, the domestic terminal alone puts many European and North American airports to shame. They are currently extending the International terminal for extra capacity, probably in time for the 2010 World Cup!
All in all, I would definitely fly Nationwide again, I am interested to try out their international service to London. Its a shame South African Airways has stopped flying its 737-800s to George, however it was great to fly a classic.

Thanks for the report!
I've also flown the 732 with Nationwide and was also seated right behind Business Class. I was amazed by the inflight service. Sandwich and drinks on a 30 min flight from JNB to Nelspruit. The same service as on the CPT-JNB leg.
