Pre Flight

This trip is the result of me having to do my periodic check on our business operations in Surabaya. On the morning of my departure, I spent a good part of the morning at the office before leaving at 1005 for my 1200 flight as usually there is not much traffic during this time of the day. Wrong move!! Decided to take a short cut which resulted in me arriving at the airport with 20 mins to spare before departure!! I quickly checked in at the business class counter and got my pre-assigned seat which is 4F, and then I went to the lounge for a quick drink with my colleague before heading to the gate.

Once we got into the gate I settled in to my seat pretty quickly, luckicly for today, the aisle seat next to me was empty so more space to leave my stuff! There was a slight delay before take off as some nut in 15B decided to park his ass in business class so it caused confusion with the cabin crew on why there was 1 extra pax in J. Oh well, once it was sorted, we pushed back and after several minutes, took off.

TG A333 from BKK

A333 & B744 ready to go

Seat Pitch in business class, much better and generous than MH's B734's

There was a mum and her kid on row 3 where the kid really was a pain in the ass, kept crying as he didn't want his mum to put him down on his seat to put on the seat belt, doesn't Garuda have those seat belt extensions whereby the mum could buckle the kid in with her ??!! Very Annoying Indeed but here is the soloution to peace and quiet in the cabin, to all frequent flyers, don't leave home without it !!

Flying over CGK airport

Theres actually clear skies over Jakarta!!

The rest of the flight was uneventful but the catering was bad!!...Didn't really know what it was but was some instant noodle looking thing with minced meat...like those you get with Spaghetti..taste...actually not as bad as it looked

Overall, another efficient (sort of) and polite service by Garuda.
Load was 80% in J, but 4 of those are GA off duty staff, and Y was 100% full
A/C:6.5/10
Service:7/10

Pre Flight

After a little over 24 hrs, it was time to head to the airport at Surabaya, although it was peak traffic hour, it took only around 40mins from downtown, not too bad comparing to Jakarta. We managed to reach the airprot with 1 hr to spare.

The Sheraton Surabaya where we stayed

Stairs to the viewing gallery at SUB

Check in was brisk and again I got 4F. There was some hassle with the ground staff as they were rushing over a dealyed 1730 flight to Jakarta, but guess what, that delayed flight actually affected me! The 1730 flight could not take off due to the fact it had flap problems therefore the flight was cancelled, they then moved passengers from that flight to my 1900 flight, and moved me to the 2000 flight. What a mess!! GA ended up delaying all subsequent flights to CGK. WHy don't they just dealy the 1730 flight until an a/c becomes available? If everyone moved up 1 flight, what happened to the lat flight out as technically they were 1 a/c short!! Was not too happy about the delay, but I can't really be bothered. There was a guy from the 1730 flight who was travelling in J who also can't even get on the 1900 flight, he claimed he saw people giving cash to the ground staff to let them aboard the a/c. Oh well, not too surprising in Indonesia, in the end he came on our 2000 flight instead.
The good news about the delay was I was able to catch Mandala's new A320 coming in on its turnaround flight to Anyone knows about the background of this a/c?

Boarding was made 5 mins after 2000. I was too tired to really complain about anyting then.

Everything else was the same as the inbound flight, didn't eat as even the FAdidn't know how to explain about the food they had on board. I just spent my time listening to my ipod and reading my book "Honk if you're malaysian" <--- 9M-MAR you should buy this book!!

Load was 70% in J, and 100% in Y

Service:6/10
A/C:7/10
Food: Did not have any but the best that I might give GA 1.5/10

Hope you guys enjoyed this short read. I will be flying to Spain tomorrow by TG in F, will post that report when I return.!!

Hi. Mr. Kwee,

It has become a tradition that your domestic trip reports will be way much shorter than the spanking F classes overseas trip report.

Duh... What's his excuse after the flight attendants discovered him?

Really? I never flown GA in C. I should check them out then.

Domino theory! HB-IWC should held a press conference about this.  tongue

Typical Indonesian!

Do you asked her in het Engels? How could she didn't know how to describe it? Is it too wierd looking?

What do u want from Spain? A spanish girl or you want a bull for you to fight in your free time in PNK ? ehhehehe

Quoting 9MMAR (Reply 1):

He just gave a really blur look on his face and then moved without much hassle, looks like maybe its his first time on an a/c. or maybe his previous travel was with air asia? free seating perhaps ? ehehehehhe

I think beacuse of the fiasco of the flights being pushed back, they also did nto get briefed on the catering, i asked him what it was, he didn't know, opened up the food tgray to have a peak...still didn't know !! ahhaha so I just got 'males' in eating  Smile

Great report, many thanks.

The delayed flight thing, interesting the way GA handled this.

Even Wonder Woman cannot achieve that. 20 mins to departure and you still managed a drink at the lounge?? I think you are officially a lounge junkie now!

Oh well, once it was sorted, we pushed back and after several minutes, took off.

I was once in MAS Golden Club on the 777 from BKK-KUL. A pax from YCL came through the curtains to the empty cabin and sat in the seat, removed the pillow cover, put it on his head and pulled it down so that it covered his eyes... reclined the seat and went to sleep. The FA saw this, woke him up and pointed aft. He got up, squeezed the breast of the FA, smirked and went behind the curtains.

Needless to say, I was shocked. I was the only one in the Golden Club cabin then so the FA walked over to me and the conversation went something like this...

"Mr Soh, I am sorry you had to witness that."
"Never mind about me! He just molested you! He just molested YOU!!!"
"Ah never mind lah, all these indian passengers, I am used to it. I take it as a compliment"

And with a wink, she went back into the galley in front to continue with her meal preparations.

Wow!  Wow! What can I say .. Really 'going beyond expectations' ... seriously, this breed of passengers should be carted off to the authorities for treating FAs like Friesian cows..

Isn't this the Garuda B737-400 which just crashed on landing ? Quite chilly, considering the fact I was reading your report just the night before the crash.

scary it really was......it was actually 6 days after i flew the a/c back...and to make me feel better the GZC crash was at the time i was getting ready to go to the airport tto get going for my business trip...nerve wrecking it was...oh well, i was carried out of indo courtesy of MH and TG, and spanair inter spain, i am now in Valencia, but to note, my landed 2 days ago from madrid to valencia was scary ....1st time i was actually scared, it was an A320 and upon approach to valenci, the a/c was tossed around by crosswinds really like a toy!!...really reslly bad...needed 2 aborted take off b4 we landed in valencia....everyone in the a/c was scared...oh well, i stll put on a brave face and kept my collleague calm, if it was in indo ....god knows what would have happned in that situation, my indo colleagues were joking, sayiing that 1. the pilot would have flown round and round till he ran of of fuel and crahsed,,,,2. force the landing but it definitely would not be the wheels that touc the tarmac first !!

I personally find this a little hard to believe. My peeps can be clueless, but this is a little too much. Then again, I have seen you consistently seem to have a problem with Indians  Wink. Oh you know what I am talking about. A.Net search is great.

Either way, if this is true, passenger should have been off-loaded. He would have in India.

Cheers.
