I commute SHV-DFW weekly on American Eagle. In 2001, I believe it was, Continental Express took over a hangar where Rockwell and then Boeing did government work installing communications equipment into military aircraft. In 2001 their lease expired and Continental Express (Expressjet now) leased the hangar to do heavy C checks. Last Saturday I was on an Eagle flight and as we landed, I looked over at the hangar and saw 2 Xjet Embraers in the Expressjet paint scheme. It was my first time to see them. So when I flew back SHV-DFW on Tuesday March 6th, I had my camera ready. It wasn't my good Nikon, but rather my Sony pocket camera. Unfortunately, we were taking off to the South and the hangar is at the south end of the field. The camera really couldn't handle the high speed plus the dull light, so I got some blurry pictures of 4 Xjet Embraers parked out on the ramp. There was also 1 Embraer in CoEx colors, which I didn't get a picture of. All the Xjet Embraers had winglets. I'm assuming that the fleet will all have winglets.

Embraer 145 N902BC (902AE is an Eagle Saab. One of the areas where their registrations overlap is 901-905. Five Saabs are in that series, which is also the second series of Embraer 145s. They go from N610AE through N699AE and N900AE-(I forgot where it ends). N700AE is the Embraer 135 series. N800AE is the Embraer 140 series.)
We reached a cruising altitude of 16000 and hit 422knots over the ground, and were in the air for only 33 minutes. It really beats the 3 hour 30minute drive.
At SHV as we were leaving, there was an ASA CRJ-100 to ATL. There was a delayed Pinnacle CRJ going to MEM, which was blocking the gate for the Pinnacle arrival from DTW. It eventually parked adjacent to the MEM one and they deplaned by stairs. Pinnacle recently put in a new jetbridge at gate 11 at SHV. Pinnacle moved to gate 11 after TWA moved to the Eagle side in 2001. A friend who is a captain for Pinnacle told me that they even painted a DC9 line for the jetbridge, which was installed last fall.
Next to the Eagle gate is Continental Express, and they were making ready for a Colgan Saab to arrive, but I didn't get a chance to see it.
Now with my flight. It was weight restricted to 47. There were 30 passengers who showed up for the flight. One revenue standby from the 1:45pm was cleared on this 12:10 departure, and then there were three non-revs (including me) making it a total of 34 pax on board. I was assigned a window on the 2 seat side. The Xjet hangar that I wanted to take a picture of was on the other side of the plane. Plus I was sitting next to a really large man--so just before they shut the door I moved to 14A, a vacant single-side seat. I usually don't bother since it's such a short flight, but I wanted to see and take pictures of the Xjets. Before I moved, the man I was sitting next to commented on how the flight attendant smiled as if it was her first flight of the day, and how professional she seemed.
Yes, I warned you it was blurry.
So there is part of the Expressjet fleet. These 4 were actually facing a Continental Express Embraer, but it was off to the left. There's quite a bit of room for them, so I guess that's why Xjet is storing them here.

When I arrived at DFW, I saw the 737 Astrojet, so here are a couple of shots of it.
I didn't take any more pictures, but I did wander over to the LH and BA gates and there was LH A340-300 D-AIGF and BA 777 Ge90 G-VIIF. G-VIIF is a regular to DFW, but the LH D-AIGF is at DFW more than once per week. It seems like at least every other time that I go to DFW to see it, the A340 is D-AIGF.
I also saw some of the cool freighters such as a Korean 747-400F, EVA Air Cargo MD11 and a Tradewinds A300.

Nice pics! Glad to see some XJET's since my home airport isn't in their niche. Also, is there (or was there ever) more than one retro AstroJet? I thought I read that they put a 757 AstroJet back in standard AA colors shortly after 9/11.

The first AstroJet was a 757, then later they did it to a 737 as well. I think there might have been more than one of each model, though I don't know for sure. I'm sure somebody might chime in who knows better than I do. I haven't seen the 757 in a really long time, so I am thinking maybe they are putting them back to normal colors--like maybe when they do the winglets mod? Notice the Astro 737 here doesn't have winglets yet.
The reason for the Astrojet retro paint job was to commemorate the 40 year anniversary of the first transcontinental nonstop jet flight, which was by American on the 707. The 757 was the closest thing we have to the 707 nowadays. I think the anniversary was 1999.

Odd as it may sound, I really miss my flights into SHV. I have fond memories of yearly flights on Royale's G-I's and TX Int'l DC-9s from IAH. SHV used to have this motif of horrid swirly-patterned globes that I now wish I had in my office. The last time I was there, Rockwell still had the lease on that mammoth hangar and there was an E-4 parked outside. I nearly shat myself! Thanks for the report.
