8 years ago, I did the weirdest flight of my life. This flight was scheduled to be Varadero-YMX but we did Varadero-JFK-YMX . I was only 6 years old so I just remember the essential. It was in summer 1992 and my parents and I were coming back home in Montreal. The plane was a TU-154(Cubana) and we took off from Varadero in late afternoon. When we were half way, a tourist did an heart attack. Everybody was going crazy in the plane. my father than suggested the pilot to land immediatly. The problem was that USA and Cuba were in kind of crisis or something at this time. 25 mins. later, the capt. were announcing: ladies an gentleman we have to land immediatly because we have an emmergency. The thing he forgot to say was that we were above USA and that we were forced to land at JFK. After a big 20 min. of descent, we finally touched the ground and parked on an isolated part of the tarmac. Surprise, within seconds, we were surrounded by F-16s and tanks. The doctors took the sick guy out of the plane and we waited, waited, waited there with no more food and nothing to do. I also remember that the doors on the left side were open and that my father was dealing with a women going crazy and wanting to kill herself by jumping on the tarmac. What I remember the most is when my mother said: Look, there is the Concorde! I looked out and saw an Aer Lingus 747!!! After 4 hours, we finally took off and landed 1 hour later at YMX. We went back home in taxi. I don't know why the US governement did that. Maybe we were in a cuban airplane but there were no cubans in the plane!
Just to share my experience.
