My Trip report for a recent quick trip to Tanzania on Emirates/Delta & BA.
ATL-LGW:
FL#: DL 88
Metal: B767-300 ER
Seat: 34A
i checked in about 2 hrs before the flight, and got my boarding pass, for some unknown reason the lines were not that bad even at the TSA section.
My Boarding Pass:
A KLM A330 - Piazza Del Duomo getting ready....
Managed to find the Crown room, unfortunately today it was the "Standing Room", the place was packed and people were in a way fighting for seats near the TV sets because of the Final Four NCAA basketball. After lounging in the room for about 1 hr, i decided to go to my Gate.
Some of the Shots from E12:
There was a DL 767 to Scotland still parked at the gate, in a few minutes it pulled off.
After a while we were told to go down 3 more gates, and our new counter display would be there.
This was supposed to be our Bird......
as usual....we waited and waited.......
A BA 2226 to LGW leaving.........
After 1 hr there was another gate change this time all the way to the extreme other end of the E concourse. Apparently the Aircraft we were assigned had mechanical problems. We finally boarded @ 9:30pm and took off 45 minutes later.
After 7 hrs we caught up with some sun.....
Landed at LGW, cleared transit, cleared security, went to Chez Gerard for a meal, these are some of the shots i took at LGW.....
i stayed around for the whole day, just browsing through duty free etc, at 7 pm i went to my gate.
LGW-DXB:
FL#: EK 010
Metal: A330-200
Seat: 33A
waited for about 30 mins, then we started boarding.....
after 45 mins we were in the air.....smoothly on our way to DXB......meal service was great, of course much better than DL, entertainment choices excellent and lots of free drinks....
After a quick nap, we caught up to some sunlight......
It was storming outside and you could see some of the storm clouds visible.
Landed in DXB, i proceeded to info area to find out where is my next Gate since it was a bit early.
Some shots from DXB...construction everywhere.....
DXB-DAR:
FL: 725
Metal: A330-200
Seat: 31K
We started boarding at 10am, we had to ride the Bus since the aircraft was at a remote stand with no jetway.
Morning Traffic in DXB....
again the on board services were excellent with a good choice of entertainment. after 5 hrs we started the approach to DAR.
There was a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE line at immigration (normal), after 45 mins i was cleared.
Dar from outside:
Some of the Scenes from the Dar-es-salaam:
After 4 days in DAR, i decided to take a break and head to Zanzibar.....
Scenes from DAR harbor and Zanzibar harbor plus the Beach.....
After Exactly 7 days it was time to leave........
DAR-DXB:
FL: 726
Metal: A330-200
Seat: 22J
My run thought security, Immigration exit and check-in was fast, considering that Monday is always a super busy day at DAR, i also managed to get a few shots of ET, Precision, Zambian and Air India.
Dar Waiting Lounge.....
some metals......
and our Metal finally arrives.........
Boarding was prompt, but we had to wait 15 more minutes because the ground staff had the wrong paperwork, once we were cleared we rode all the way to the runway passing by the TZ government Hangar housing a GF 550. We landed in DXB around 11pm.
i decided to hang out at the Bar for a few hrs before my next flight......
View from my lousy bar seat......
DXB-LGW
FL: 011
Metal: A 330-200
Seat: 38F
There was a gate change as usual, got to the gate on time, boarded even though i could not get a window seat assigned (flight was full).
We left DXB 1 hr late.......so by the time we arrive in LGW the Delta gate was closing.......
LGW-ATL
FL: BA 2227
Metal: B 777
Seat: 32K
EK rebooked us on BA, the BA flight was leaving 3 hrs later around 1pm.
Takeoff was prompt and BA staff on this flight really suprised me (used to the crappy service you get btn DAR-LHR)
Arriving in ATL...............20 minutes ahead of time...........
unfortunately my checked in luggage did not make it......also i found out the hard way that BA doesn't have a luggage office in ATL, i had to talk to a gate agent, she issued me a claim receipt and last Friday they delivered my luggage at the house !

Hi!
Very interesting trip indeed!!! I was very curious with your report regarding Africa, I'll be heading there next June, to Kenya and Congo and it's always good to read about this great continent. It looks that Tanzania is a very calm place to visit and Dar-Es-Salaam also looks a nice modern city.
Anyway thanks for sharing that awesome/unique trip!
Regards

excellent trip report... too bad your luggage didn't make it. that's probably the problem with BA. I traveled with them in january and with a missed connection was rebooked the next day. My luggage, however made it two weeks later at my house!!!

You might want to get rid of the pic of your first BP with your full name and SM # on it.
And looking at your BP for EK...do they actually have a smoking section on the a/c, or is the "smoke" thing just a formaility?
