A blaring alarm woke me at 3am Monday morning, not the alarm clock but someone’s burglar alarm had gone off, must have woken most of the road, I imagine most of us had our our windows open due to it being a warm night, what annoyed me most was I lost out on 15 minutes of valuable sleep before the real alarm was due to go off!!
Anyway, I was out the house by 4am and heading to Gatwick.
I would have preferred to fly BA from Heathrow as it’s so so much closer, however with only a weeks notice of this meeting, BA’s fares were too high to justify for my meeting in Prestwick.
Check-in at Gatwick South was pretty quiet at 5am, I prefer to get there early to increase chances of getting boarding group A, despite being there darn early, I got boarding group B, number 35 to check-in.
Security was nice and easy this morning, even managed to keep my shoes on for a change
Had a wander around the shops and bought a coffee to drink at the gate, which would be number 10 this morning, funny it always seems to be this gate when I fly Easyjet from Gatwick.
Boarding started just before 6am, the load I over heard as being 70, quite low I thought for a Monday morning - most of us were dressed in suits or Business casual.
Push back was a few minutes early and we headed down to the active runway, or rather the only runway!!
No que for departure or wait for inbound traffic, wheels up at 06:29.
Not much to report on this flight, I refrained from purchasing anything, hoping to catch and hours worth of sleep. Crew seemed friendly enough though one of them seemed to have difficulty with the English language which I found amusing as I really could not understand him at times.
Wheels touched down at 07:28 to which the crew announced with joy we had arrived over 15 minutes ahead of schedule.
I managed to note the new Fly Globespan 757 as we taxied to the gate, result!
Glasgow was a bit on the chilly side compared to my neck of the woods.
Picked up a car from the company and headed to Prestwick.

I had planned to be on the last flight back, 20:40 or something like that as I needed to go to Inverness after my meeting, however the people I was meeting were running late, they were driving up from Liverpool, and our meeting ran on for longer tha planned. Since Inverness is some 4 hours from Prestwick, then about 5 back to Glasgow, there was no way I’d make the late flight at all.
I’d not really looked at the Easyjet schedule back, but took a chance getting back to Glasgow early and see if there was an earlier flight. I lucked in, there was space on the 14:45 to Gatwick.
The good thing with Easyjet is you can get on an earlier flight at no cost if they have space, that is a real plus, so I really had no grounds to be dissapointed when I got group D on my boarding pass, heck, most likely end up a middle seat or sitting next to some undesirable type, but would this flight really be that full? A midday flight on a Monday, don’t think so.
Security was a breeze though I had to remove my shoes this time. Come on BAA, standardise everything please, we just want continuity between airports especially those in the same group.
Today we would be boarding from Gate 11, it’s quite nasty down there, the sinks in the toilets seem to lack water to wash your hands and there is nasty Orange paint all over the place. Anyway, the area was starting to fill up, departure time came and went without any annoucement, classic Easyjet this, tell you nothing while the staff stand around chatting and laughing.

No sooner had our plane started to turn into it’s parking position they announced boarding of flight EZY688, of course everyone gets up and then has to stand for ages until boarding is actually ready, I hate this whole set up, it’s like cattle in pen’s!

Not sure of the exact load on this flight, I was among the last 20 to board and managed to secure 5E, the flight was packed, I’d have never have thought it. Lot’s of young children (crying) on this flight.

We pushed back late, the captain apologising for the delay, it was due to having to off load bags at Gatwick, some passengers got lost after check-in, I ask you, how on earth!?
A small taxi out and wheels left the ground 9 minutes after push, not bad.
Despite the noise and movement going on in the cabin I shut my eyes and dozed off, quite easy when the OAP in the window was reading here book and the guy in the 5D read his magazine, those are the pax I like if I have to sit in the middle.
We touched down at 16:20 and headed back to the South Terminal. Despite pushing back almost 25 minutes behind schedule we were only 5 minutes late arriving, just goes to show how padded the schedules are.
De-board was pretty prompt and I was in my car about 20 minutes later, so all in all not bad.
Overall Easyjet are ok, I’m not a fan by any mean’s. As a general rule of thumb you can usually get a reasonable fare on domestics up to a week prior to departure if there are multiple flights.
For my sin’s, I’m booked on the same outbound flight next week, another early start and long day
Thanks for reading, any comments are appreciated. Sorry for so few photo's, was too tired to take many.

A nice report there. Some good pics aswell. I think EZY will be doing a lot of damage to BA on this route. LGW-GLA-LGW passenger figures have risen dramtically since EZY decided to start the route. I for one hope it remains as I hope to get down to LGW quite soon
Neutrality means that u don't really care cos the struggle goes on even when ur not there, blind and unaware

nice short story about your domestic EZY ride.
Nevertheless an interesting read for me, I remember this orange cattle stable downstairs at GLA from a ride to STN
some time ago.
