ATTENTION ATTENTION PIT SPOTTERS
Rumor is that John Kerry is re-painting/decaling his presidential plane in Pittsburgh right now. Any PIT spotters who can get out there?

Kerry is coming here to Indianapolis tomorrow, so maybe we will see the plane painted with his Veep selection added when he lands. He is coming to speak to the 30,000 people gathered for the African Methodist Episcopal Church Convention downtown. Local news has been speculating he might name his selection here.

Kerry has said he will announce his selection in an email to the subscribers of his website, and many believe that email will be sent out Tuesday morning. I think that email will probably go out before that plane emerges from the hangar.

Come on, don't we have some connections in PIT hangers who can pass some info to us here? There must be some hotshot reporter looking for a big break by getting the drop on if the VP's name is being applied right now. Unless that a/c is not going to be used for few days and the painters and security people are under 'pain of death' not to reveal if the VP canidate's name will be actually be applied before announcement. Maybe the flight to Indy will be done by another a/c, rather than this one as 'undergoing maintenance' (and covering the painting work time)

ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! BACK TO THE TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can magnetic letters be used on aircraft under FAR part 121?
I dont know, but my imagination would be magnetic letters could be peeled off in-flight probably so it wouldn't be very effective. It could also cause a safety issue in static electricity.
On another note, please take the politics talk crap to the non-aviation forum.

AirframeAS: What it is used is a special aerodynamic tape, which is used to resist high-pressure air. This special tape is what airlines use to make their stickers, paint them, and finally place them on their aircrafts as logos, emblems, etc..

If you are talking about the repair tape approved by F.A.R. that is only temporary tape that can only be used for a certain amount of time. Its not approved for a long duration of time or a permenant fix.
