Singapore Seletar (WSSL) was an RAF base from 1928 to 1971.
Current operators to the field include Airmark Aviation, Pelangi Air and Silkair
(from World Airport Data).

It gets mainly general aviation. When lying at the pool of the neighboring Seletar Country Club I've only seen C172's flying around and the occasional chopper...

Pelangi Air has gone bust during the Asian financial crisis of late '90s, which also used to serve Seletar-Tioman. At one point Silk Air also served Tioman from Seletar.

Seletar is the primary GA airport in Singapore. Generally, airplanes below a certain weight are not allowed to Changi and must use Seletar. For example, when Tom Cruise visited Singapore, his jet had to land at Seletar.
The 3 flying clubs are there - Republic of Singapore Flying Club, Youth Flying Club and Seletar Flying Club (formerly the Singapore Airlines Flying Club). The Singapore Flying College also uses the airport for some training.
The airport is also used as a base for regional maintenance facilities. I know Hawker Pacific has an operation there. The FBO is run by Jet Aviation.

Nope, that was Paya Lebar Airport.

SilkAir codeshared on this flight, they did not operate their own equipment.

Actually, SilkAir did not operate the flight to Tioman Island from Seletar Airport. Its predecessor Tradewinds operated a very beautifully-painted Shorts Skyvan 3M leased from the Singapore Air Force (believe it was then called the Singapore Air Defence Command).
10mid: I do not think that Changi bans aircraft below a certain weight. All manners of small planes land at Changi Airport. Perhaps Tom Cruise decided on Seletar Airport to dodge the adoring fans who have probably staked out Changi Airport in anticipation of his much publicised arrival.
Seletar Airport was previously an important base for airlines that supported oil exploration and mining businesses in SE Asia. Airlines that previously operated from there (almostly exclusively charter services) included AirFast, Air Trust, Kris Air, Sabre Air (just to name a few).
Several years ago, it even was the base for at least three Antonov 8s operating to nearby Indonesian island of Batam - at least one of these had the Airmark Indonesia title (with fax number too!).
Today, thanks to the maintenance facilities offers by Jet Aviation and Fokker, a stream of planes come in for maintenance.
Prior to the erection of a fence all round, I have seen and photographed some of the visiting aircraft.

VASIS are in use now. It is a great aerodrome to fly out from. The view of the surrounding area is beautiful and it is next to the sea (more like straits) and the inland is surrounded by lakes and lush greenery.
But like the whole of Singapore it is crowded up in the air. It is sandwiched between 2 other aerodromes so manouvering the a/c after take off can be rather dicy. Veer a little off-course and you start to stray into another control zone.

I currently live next to that mentioned club, I am at Maida Vale!!! Give me a buzz the next time you are there as I am a student at Singapore Flying College (SFC) now. SFC flies their Cessnas 152s all day long, so I am sure u have seen some of us droning in and out. Air Asia does their maintenance there too. I was treated to a surprise just yesterday when I saw a Jetstar A320 rotating!
Other than that, 2 dirty looking Merpati 737-200s are being moved around the ramp to various places each day, plus an Air Pacific A320 in the hangars. Throughout the day, u get many props from all over the world from C130s, to AN 24s, and several executive jets (Dassault Falcons and Learjets).
It is a pretty interesting sight compared to Changi because of all these exotic names like Air Mark, Jet Aviation, SAFair... start calling SLX home.
