I am about to go take the 1st medical examination. I was wondering if someone could give me the heads up on what the doctor does and what they look for. Also what type of test to they administer? Thank you.

General health; normal B.P., eyesite (correctable to 20/20), ear, nose, throat, hearing (I always just get the wisper thing) urine test (looking for protein 'kidney', or sugar 'diabetes'). Questions of health history, etc.
The big thing is the paper work before hand, give yourself an extra 15 mins before your appointment to get that done. If you are a member of AOPA, they have a helpfull link to do that before hand.
If you know yourself, and know you feel good, nothing to worry about. Lets go fly.

Medicals aren't as difficult as one would think. I just went for mine today and forgot my glasses. As a result I have to stop by the doctor's office for a quick vision test tomorrow. The only weird thing that happened in mine is that two doctors gave it to me, one training the other, so every test was done twice.

Every AME is different. For my medical they gave me an actual hearing test and eye exam. I also got my balls felt up for no extra charge.
Ask around for recommendations from other pilots if you want to find the easiest (and hands-off) examiner.
The hearing test is very simple. I think it is that you have to be able to hear a low volume conversational tone at about six feet in distance and then repeat it back.
I only have a third class medical but that is because I felt no need to get a first class medical (and didn't feel like paying more for the extra tests). Most aviation doctores aren't the evil type that go overboard unless you want them to. Just make sure you bring your glasses/contacts if you have them and make sure you have a relatively recent pair because a lot of people with vision correction aren't at 20-20 even though they could be if they had the proper prescription.

Also agreed. Even my old school ME (who's a great man) still asks me to drop the pants, turn my head, and *cough* though. He's a good guy and the trick with him is ya bring 2 nice cigars in with you and he'll smoke one with ya while he examines you! Doesn't get much better than that. Anyhow, best of luck on your exam, I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors!

Man I must have gotten a weird doctor. Mine was a bit more "thorough", no penetration or anything just a pants dropping session to add to the akwardness. Other than that I didnt find it much different than a 3rd or 2nd class, just a bit more to the eye tests. Good luck!

I believe they only do those if you're over 35.
1st class medical isn’t such a big deal as they make it sound as long as your eye sight is 20/20 correctible and you can hear faint sounds from a distance. I've done it twice and took about 10 minutes. Good luck Italman1285 in your medical.

bloody hell my 3rd class sounds worst than yor 1st, i had to basically stand there naked in boxers only and get "felt up" by the female doctor!!! she grapped my nuts, pulled my skin, then i had weight checks height checks vision colour blindness etc. and that was only 3rd class medical
