Parked up at CWL the last couple of days,is an MD 83 of UK Jet.
This has UK Jet titles down the main fuselage, and Excel.Com titles on the engine nacelles.
Does anybody know, if this aircraft is going to be based at CWL all summer,to operate the new Excel Summer flights?

When you say 'UKJet', do you mean 'BritishJet', or is this another operator?

This a/c shall be based @ EMA this summer. It's UKjet, operating an ex Viking MD83 for Excel Airways, which was used by SCY @ EMA last summer.
At the moment, it's supposed to be based at BRS, so dunno why it's @ CWL.

Its been at CWL the last couple of days.
Excel already have a 737-3 at BRS,which has been there all winter.
Do you know what aircraft will be based at CWL?

The MD83 is former SE-RDH, now registered SX-BSW I believe. This was the white MD83 Air Scandic used last summer at EMA a few times. Your right it has UKJet titles and XL.com on engines. It is due to be based at EMA.
CWL will have either C-FTAE or C-FTAE based their, which are former G-XLAE/AH. They are leasing back wearing their C reg identities.

Weather diversion from BRS last week, no flying planned since and no adhocs, so hasn't positioned back to BRS yet.

IIRC, it's 737-400 not -300 ? Away on maintenance I guess, hence the UK Jet MD83

Its should of left today to do an ad-hoc charter from MME, then finally going to EMA where it will be based in the summer. The reason its at CWL is because there no remote parking for it at BRS.

737-400 TF-ELY is currently undergoing a C Check. The UK Jet brand is basically a new name for Viking, but this time Greek registered, than Swedish. The MD83 was already planned, to help cover the gaps left by Air Scandic, hence the Finnair 757 being leased (OH-LBS).

Quoting Gkirk (Reply 9): When will the 734s leave the fleet?
As soon as NW retire their DC-9s
Sorry I had to say it, but on a lighter note it was my first crew flight on an A320 today and being on that small bird reminded my of my time on the 734 last year (well the smallness, not the lack of defects etc....) and for those BRS folk who read this, I miss being down south
Last year there were so many new ideas regarding BRS/CWL that eventually we gave up and decided to just wait it out. There was talk of the 734 being in CWL and the 738 at BRS then the other way around and it just went on.....

Supposedly at the end of summer.
Just to clarify, this is what Excel's fleet should look like this summer:

TF-AMK is only with the fleet as the standby aircraft, TF-AMJ has had some trouble during its C Check, so another 743 maybe added possibly TF-ATI (former IB lease).
Quoting Gkirk (Reply 9): When will the 734s leave the fleet?
Not sure end of summer I think. TF-ELV is due back for 2 weeks to cover TF-ELY while its undergoing a C check.

I am very pleased with this news, and very suprised to be honest. SE-RDH was my favourite Aircraft last year at EMA and how its managed to be based at EMA again I wouldn't know but it's great news! Hopefully though it won't be a duplicate of the Air Scandic operation last year with all the delays that we had. UK Jet does seem quite a similar Airline to Air Scandic, I would be interested to read some passenger comments.

TF-AME, and TF-AMJ will operate in Travel City Direct colours, and TF-AMK in an all white scheme.

I believe they will be operating in Travelcity Direct colours, however TF-AMK is currently in a plain white livery and last time i saw, TF-AMJ was in a special Hajj livery - who knows what they will have on them by summer
