.....I think IT has some bugs to work out on this web site yet.....some links not working....some pages won't allow you to go back to the home page, etc. etc.
Typical web site launch problems.

I knew they were going to choose GSO.. it's almost in too good of a position to get RDU and CLT traffic.. and for $10 fares, they might actually get some good traffic.. good for GSO.. now they can no longer state they don't have any LCC.. they have 2! Hopefully they will actually use them now..

I'm scheduled for the inagural GSO-CMH on May 29th, returning on the 30th. All in, it was $36, and I then added $6 for trip insurance since Skybus will not pay for food or lodging if a flight is cancelled for any reason. I'll be sure to write a full trip report. I'll even try bringing my own bottle of water on board to see what they do.

156 on an A319? WOW.....that is tight fit. I will say I do like the butterfly on the tail. Would have been cool if they painted each plane a different color though.

Some interesting flight times and interesting restrictions...

No connections through CMH?

Is there enough traffic in CMH to drive point to point in all those cities?

I'm surprised they went with 156 rather than 150. With 150 they only need 3 FA's.... But I guess with what they pay their FA's ($9 an hour), the extra one doesn't matter.

I just booked my ticket --- RIC-CMH-BUR

I live in Virginia Beach, so it will be almost a 2 hour drive to RIC, so we'll see if it will be worth it in the long run, assuming on future flights I can snag the $10 seats (I did on the ones I booked)

I didn't like the return skd, so I am flying Air Tran back out of LAX

WHAT!?!?! Are you serious?  wideeyed

Who on earth would sign up for that? I mean, I heard they will make commission from sales but $9 an hour? That is just awful.

Some extraordinarily cheap fares, e.g. $20.40 one-way including tax for CMH-BUR, which has a block of nearly 4.5 hours.

Are they kidding?

How do they think they will control this?

From their website:

Please don’t bring food or beverages on board. Skybus fares are very, very low in part because that's all you're paying for: your air fare. That means no free peanuts. (Actually, no one seems to miss them).

On the other hand, Skybus flights are very, very comfortable partly because you can buy delicious snacks and beverages you actually want during your flight. Or not. It's your choice.

To keep everything tidy and organized, we do ask that you finish any snacks and drinks you purchase on your own before boarding, as you are not permitted to bring them on our aircraft.

They're cheap - 156 seats on a 319 - CMH-BUR - ouch!

I guess you get what you pay for!?

Website is not too bad - needs some debugging though - can't go directly to home from some points, grainy looking on some graphics, etc.

Overall, not too bad. Interesting experiment, will be fun to watch. I would give it a try if they were in ATL or close by.

I just booked me and a friend CMH-Portsmith on june 1-3. I'm kinda excited. Cause if it sucks on the plane, it won't be that long of a flight. Also, as a part-time web designer, that site is pretty well done, though there is some funky-ness in the post-backs where you get the "are you sure you want to resubmit the data" message in your browser (thats never good).

Rules of flying http://ask.skybus.com/about/rules-of-flying.shtml

those rules are funny, like

'3. Bring a book
We’re not big fans of fancy in-flight entertainment systems. So grab that best seller at the airport, or buy a Sudoku puzzle onboard if you’re feeling brainy. You’ll touch down before you know it.'

and

'10. No spontaneous dancing in the aisle.
We realize you might be excited about paying a ridiculously low fare, but please refrain from any unbridled dancing onboard. This includes jumping for joy, disruptive cheering, and celebratory break dancing.'

and so on...

Well, the $10 fares must be very limited. Some of the dates are already showing as $50 for the lowest fare... And also, for example CMH-BUR on 11/21, the first flight is already priced at $125.00!!!

From the website:

4. Don’t call us.

We don’t have a phone number. Seriously. We’d love to chat, but those phone banks are expensive. And a good website like skybus.com is even more convenient.

This seems really farsighted to me. Even a call center in India is better than no customer service at all!

No...it's different.

I've already received email responses from the company. If they can handle most cases over email and it allows them to keep prices low - have at it.

I think they were trying to be "cute" but to me they came across as condescending. After just reading that list, I will never step onto a Skybus plane.

Buy delicious snacks.... yeah right. Probably $5.00 for pretzels, $3.00 for a can of soda, $10.00 for a muffin.........
