This thing is going too fast. Could be due to pilot error or weather conditions. The plane doesn’t want to descend. Definitely better to go around it seems from this perspective.

In the video the landing seems perfectly normal and well within the touchdown zone. Tailstrike happend on the balked manoeuvre. Question is why did they balk the landing?

It’s to cut down on instructor usage. Normally you would need 4 stretches line flying to have 4 actual landings for a new 777 pilot, this way they regroup several pilots for 1 day.

Novice question but... what did the APU actually do for Sullys plane? Provided electrical and hydraulic power when the engines no longer were. I'm no expert but I think that allowed the FBW systems to stay active and avoid reverting to direct/reduced law. No APU I know of supplies hydraulics on Air...

What they say and what they do are 2 different things. I wouldn’t put too much weight towards the statements by Ben or KLM board. Furthermore Luchtvaartnieuws reported that the decision had been made for the 787 a couple of weeks ago. The airline denied this and the article was baseless. We’ll see.

I once heard that some BA crew came back in the hotel in Lagos wearing nothing more than underwear. Don’t know of the truth of this one but same rules apply there.

I’ve heard numerous stories in my company of people not following advice and becoming victims of crime in certain places.

The 789 is already replacing the A330s. The real discussion is what the 772 will be replaced by. 78X HGW? A359? I believe the 359 is better suited range and payload wise but the 78 has the commonality cards.

AFKL have leased 9 additional A32N from ALC for delivery between end of this year to 2026. No mention which airline in the group will receive these. Source is Dutch site luchtvaartnieuws.nl.

Additionally KLM appears to be willing to extend the A332 use until 2027 and A333 to 2029.

We have:

- 3.7degree glide
- tailwind (170 groundspeed on FR24)
- thunderstorm
- wet
- 03:00 am

The metars around the time indicate headwind with a tempo strong tailwind in showers. Coming down on a 3.7degree glide at 170kts couldn’t have looked good.

ASR. An air safety report should be submitted within 24hrs after a incident that endangered or potentially could have endangered the safety of the flight or its occupants. There’s the mandate for the BEA.

Seems the pilot wanted to make a last second flare adjustment. Probably having the impression he flared to high. As noted earlier there is some pilot induced oscillation notable due to over controlling during the approach.
