Re: Venezuelan airline 747 cargo flight sets off alarms in Argentina

It is a 747-3B3M Combi, delivered to UTA in 1986, then with Air France until 2007 when it passed to Mahan Air under a Belorussian registration (to bypass sanctions). During its tenure with Mahan it was used both as an all pax and all cargo aircraft. https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/boeing-747...

Re: Venezuelan airline 747 cargo flight sets off alarms in Argentina

Perhaps not totally relevant...but is this aircraft actually a cargo aircraft or is it just a Combi? It looks like a combi to me and I doubt the Iranians or the Venezuelans have a P-F programme in place. Seems odd that a cargo airline would want what is predominantly a passenger aircraft although I...

I took this flight last week in Delta One and really did not like it. Can't do anything at LAX during the morning because you need to leave for the airport. Just because I haven't seen a post about CY yet, wanted to add my two cents...my last BAC 1-11 trip was on Cyprus Airways from Beirut to Larnaca in 1993. I think the couple 1-11s they had were nearly gone by 1993 and the interiors were...pretty terrible. We sat right at the back where the 2-3 config...

Re: No Indian airlines flying to Canada?

Because of Air India 181/182 in 1985, we learned (sadly) of the need for an intermediate stop (at least at the time) in flying between eastern Canada and India. And in that era, you flew to DEL or BOM, and then transferred. I was a little intrigued by this comment. I am well aware of the tragedy of...

Re: Aircrafts that didn't fly for some time

If the plane is not airworthy you have to contact the local FSDO to get a ferry permit, I think. Said permit would allow you to fly the aircraft with some less than airworthy condition to the nearest location where it could be fixed. I think that's the procedure...in the US anyway. How you would do ...

757 has some pluses and minuses. On the minus side, lower deck is bulk loaded (as far as I know cannot take containers) and the upper deck cannot accommodate full size 96x125 containers (e.g. AMJs / PMCs). Not ideal. On the plus side, a 753 would probably be fairly close to an A310 in cubic capacity...
