Re: United Fleet Upgrade Status - 2018

Reality is a bummer if the 772 fleet will take so long to refit. Many do very long rides (EWR to India and HK as examples) and Polaris would be SO much better for premium revenue fliers. The first retrofit of any type takes quite a while...besides the actual work to install Polaris they need a STC ...

Part of the reason for the difference is traffic rights are held by the individual countries that make up the EU. They have to remain as seperate companies (if only on paper) in order to retain that. May as well retain the individual brands at that point.

What’s the alternative? Do you spend six years to retrofit all of the planes and then start advertising? You’d then be promoting a seven year old seat and we’d roast UA for that. I think for UA Polaris is the premium experience, and that should extend beyond what the seat looks like. If you are try...

AI are still 3-3-3 on all 777s for the moment. UA is 3-4-3 though. I think most in eco on 16 hr flights would prefer more spacious 3-3-3. IMO airlines with 9-abreast 777 can definitely market this product over competitors smaller seats. The issue is whether in 10 abreast, a B772 could make BOM or D...
