On a similar note, I flew out of KUL yesterday and saw quite a few Iberia ads on the electronic ad boards. Though doubt they will start KUL anytime soon.

Didn’t UA just start flying LAX-HKG a few months ago, and it is now going double daily already? Seems to be a missed opportunity for AA and DL to fly to HKG if UA can go to double daily so soon. Also quite telling that they can go double daily up against CX, who I think before COVID/HKG issues was u...
Jump to postIt is a interesting topic, and one I brought into attention a few years ago when UA used to extensively operate the 757 TATL over winter months. They consistently had a diversion rate of >50% over the winter months on their longest 757 routes, yet marketed and sold the flights as nonstops. Have fun...

http://www.kukinews.com/newsView/kuk202311200288 (in Korean) It was confirmed late last year that the sole 747 pax will retire in March. This aligns with the (soft) 25-year rule for passenger fleet imposed by the government, and also what Asiana has practiced for a while. The sole 767 has also reac...
Jump to postMy understanding is that Asiana is going to retire its sole 747 this year. Has a date been set? Also, can’t seem to find it in their schedule after end of March/start of summer season. It is not on any of the current routes of TYO/TPE/CTS. What are the planned flights with the start of summer season?
Jump to postRussia overflight. Interesting. Maybe each carrier gets a certain amount of weekly overflight rights, and spread these over different routes. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but these are the current LAX-China nonstop flights available PEK/CAN/XMN/SZX/TFU/HGH HGH doesn't seem to be for sale, it is ...

Jump to postChecking my flight log, my YYT-LHR flight took 4h 56m, with an airborne time of 4:35, and LHR-YHZ 6:16 with airborne time of 5:45.
Was a fun way to fly all 7M8 and A320N round trip LAX-ARN!
A few years ago, flying between LAX-ARN-LAX, I flew LAX-YYZ-YYT-LHR-ARN and ARN-LHR-YHZ-YYZ-LAX, just to get those two flights into my flight log. Both flights were operated by the 737-8 MAX, and at least the FAs flew YYZ-YYT-LHR and LHR-YHZ-YYZ. It was a regular full meal on both TATL segments.

LOL, just felt an earthquake a few minutes ago. Lovely day, the storm and now some earthquakes on top.
Jump to postFrom what I gather the winds won’t even be anywhere close to a typical Santa Ana wind event we get. The main problem will be the the rain, and that will mostly be a problem in the desert areas with flash floods. LAX ops will probably be mostly OK. Based on past discussions it was determined that flight is a Space X charter.

Jump to postThe flight on 8/3 was on time, by industry accepted timing standards anyway. Looking at the FlightRadar24 history for that tail (628NP), timeliness is not their strong suit, but it's also not quite as bleak as your post indicates. Negative…on time performance is gate arrival not the landing time of...
Jump to postN757LV is now the oldest and only aircraft from 1999 still remaining in service. That’s pretty wild. It’ll probably be retired soon though, sadly. LAX does poorly for them, except for the flight from YVR.

Jump to postProbably a soft wet-lease where cabin crew is not included in the agreement as TS already has ample crew certified on the A330, happens quite regularly. Jump to postLAX-ARN. The route has been flown on and off the past few years by Norwegian Long Haul, SAS and Finnair. Jump to postFor DL @ LAX it must be LAX-ORD. With DL calling LAX a hub, and not serving ORD which is one of the top domestic O&D markets is kind of shocking. Jump to postIf I looked correctly, this is the oldest bird in all of UA’s fleet.
Did UA have any specific retirement plans for this bird before the incident?
Seeing all these horrible OTP, I truly got away easy with just a 20min delay on my YYC-LAX flight last Thursday.
Have another Lynx trip booked, YYZ-LAX in October. Maybe time to look for a back up flight? Are the birds as tightly scheduled, or will there be more slack in the fleet after peak summer?
FL430 on some of my A350 flights, both on long and short haul sectors operated by the type. Interestingly, whenever browsing FR24 and I see flights up at FL430 it seems to almost always be the A350. Compared to the 787, it seems the A350 cruise at higher altitudes. Another interesting aspect is that...

Jump to postI'm certain this service is being conceived of as an origin point for the Tijuana area traveler who would rather enter the US at an airport than cross the border. Jump to postProbably not but I wonder if they'd get some CBX (or whatever it's called) traffic. I highly doubt SAN area passengers will use the TIJ service. This is mainly because they would have on any domestic itinerary unnecessarily clear passport and customs twice, both for crossing into Mexico and then on...
