Re: Jet2 to the rescue?

Looks like Jet2 are laying on extra aircraft to rescue passengers from other airlines, according to the statement from the CEO. This must be very costly for the company, but for a company as well run as this, this must be a play for the long run where they can attract future customers. This must al...

If Airbus management knew in 2000 what they know now would they have gone forward with the program? If given a chance for a do over would they make the same decision? I doubt it. If Airbus did announce an A380 program now the world airlines would probably still say they want 1000 of the craft. It c...

The flame to the right is the methane flare. They burn excess and unused off because it’s a greenhouse gas. Oxygen is usually vented into the atmosphere.

Yes it is a symphony where every minute counts. Just for interest, we used to turn our A300's around in 60 minutes and the B737's in 45 minutes, and it was very tight. At STN we manage to turn Ryanair’s in 25 mins which I think is their shortest, and a must agree that’s definitely "organized c...

With all due respect STN is far from a 'small' airport. The cargo division is the third largest in the UK, handling 250,000 tonnes in 2016, and no doubt even more this year. Varied cargo travels through due to close road infrastructure. FedEx have also recently applied to increase the size of their ...

Sometimes it's good to have 4 engines. If this had happened to a twin, the single good engine would have still enabled the plane to land safely. Unfortunately I think a twin would have sustained far worse damage due to the engine being closer to the fuselage etc. It would be interesting if anyone a...

This is a smart move by Boeing to try and make the venerable '73 as competitive to the A32x as possible. The main probable cause for me at the moment is a bulkhead failure, but that still doesn't answer the question as to why the found fan module ( picture in reply 54) is covered in soot and burn marks. There must have been a fairly fierce fire during the breakup for it to get in this state.

Regarding how 'safe' the MAX will be, I haven't been able to find how many hours certification will be required but assume it'll be the same number of hours for each variant as the NEOs approx 3000hrs for six variants?

If this is the case then the MAX will be just as safe as the NEO!
