Not certain, but don't think reversers can deploy at t/o power. Don't believe powering down, engaging reverse, then powering up in the time remaining before running out of runway would have prevented anything, other than possibly pulling the plane off the starboard side of the runway. Not yet known ...

Jump to postFor so many years you've had people talking about building an airport between BUF and ROC around Batavia area (GVQ). Rumors will die out for a few years, them some politician will float the idea, the public argues about it, and like always it ends up completely dead. If both cities didn't have well...
Jump to postQuick question... When was the first American MD-80 retired? With such a large fleet it seems like the drawdown has taken a long time since it began. This excludes the Reno Air fleet. AA had 260 MD-80s, one was lost @ LIT in 1999, so that brings us to 259. There were 103 acquired from TWA, so that ...
Jump to postOne aircraft could become an exhibit at the Delta museum. All others will be scrapped Will any MD-88 be sold to rich people who could use them to replace 727-100s in VIP configuration? Well, anything's possible.....an -87 would be the most practical, like the one Steve Wynn had. But there aren't bu...
Jump to postA few yrs ago on this site, someone posted the the leading O&D airports....individual ones rather than all in a metro, and by total traffic, excluding any connection traffic (but did incl AmEagle, DLCnx, UAExp, etc). Jump to postWell, Bob Crandall, who likely forgot more about the airline business than most folks will ever know, repeatedly told us that airlines, while a great, fun place to work, were a lousy investment, and repeatedly advised us against stock purchases in them (even tho we had a great employee purchase plan...

Jump to postThat plane didn't crash, it was taken. Still intact. Too many factors negate it crashing/ditching. Wheelhouse crew to blame? No. Cabin crew & certain psgrs? Yes. Jump to postWell, as I posted over a yr ago, that airplane was taken.....it didn't ditch or crash. I firmly believe this so-called debris is either a plant or is from something else. Jump to postSorry, but all the "satellite data" notwithstanding, I don't believe that plane ever went into the drink. It's on the ground somewhere either in a large hangar or very well camouflaged.
