This is a new feature for 757s to reduce takeoff weight. It's similar to the MAX 8 feature to reduce landing weight.

DL is pulling 717s out of storage and sending them to Mexico to be overhauled and returned to service. They have their own sheet metal shop in ATL. There's zero chance this plane is a write-off. Incidentally, does anyone know how to pronounce "Queretaro"?

What's needed is an electric lock on the overhead bins. If there's weight on the wheels, the bins don't open. That and an announcement that the bins "are and will remain closed, locked, and inaccessible while the aircraft is on the ground" would clean up most of this nonsense.

I have never in my experience had the Windows locked on my 787 experience. I don’t think I’ve flown with an airline that does that. What airlines are you flying with? I flew the 787 from Chicago to Honolulu and they had the windows locked dark from just after takeoff until we were actually on the ground. It drove my mad. I did not realize Compass had lost its Delta contract as well. That leaves TSH with just GoJet, as many others have said. The CRJ-550 idea is cute, but I don't think it'll last.
