If you expected planes delivered with more capacity on key routes, it will affect revenues. Likely some labor, fuel and mx costs on older retained planes are going up. I wonder if any westbound TATL flights that day had to stop for fuel in eastern Canada ? I think part of the reason for the high winds eastbound was from the leftovers of a storm (a 'nor'easter') along the eastern USA/Canada that brought snow there.

For political reasons you are all aware of, there has long been continuing hostile relationships among the USA, Venezuela and Iran including financial embargoes and sanctions by the USA to them..Seizure and moving the aircraft to the USA is part of the sanctions so Iran cannot benefit from the sale....

Sadly, this just proves that humans are the weak link in any security checkpoints from paperwork to x-ray examinations. I hope the staff that missed him will face investigations and the unions don't get in the way of dismissal of them if appropriate.
