Re: Your top 3 of 2019

Evan, your Atlantis shot is very well done (especially in that kind of mixed-lighting environment!). I also particularly like Kas's Dakota and Dylan's head-on shot of Fifi, and I'll continue those themes: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/46921054065_427f1b79d9_n.jpg On Flickr https://live.staticf...

Re: Why upload here?

I stopped uploading regularly almost three years ago, primarily because of dissatisfaction about how the site was changing, but also because the “return on investment” of time and effort seemed to be continually shrinking. I’ve trickled in uploads since then, but seven of the ten shots I’ve had acce...

Re: Airliners.net Site Upgrade Announcement & Discussion

When viewing any one photographer's photos, it's no longer possible to sort by location, reg, date, etc. Sorting by "date added" is an option, but it doesn't work. Instead it returns stuff in random order (and that order varies each time). The number of images per page and the image size c...

The first thing that struck me is the large amount of scrolling necessary to see what used to be available at a glance. Bigger isn't necessarily better! Other points: - On most pages the photographer's comment can't be seen at the same time as the photo. It's either not there or is a scroll or two f...

"Turbine", in this case, means only the post-combustion turbine stages, of which the TF30 has four, one high-pressure, and three low-pressure. You're correct that the compressor stages are that far forward, but the concern is/was for the much-higher energy turbines. <a href="http://www.aer.ita.br/~b...

I would assume it marks the location of the turbine, as a warning to stay clear of that area while the engines are running. Similar markings are used on many (especially older) military jets.
