OMA: LAX-Gone, it was just announced as daily year-round and had a press release on it, 2 months later it doesn't get extended beyond January 6th. VERY unusual for Southwest. DSM: All same as last year, except there is a PHX flight SAT only. Maybe the competition against AA's daily OMA-LAX flight w...Jump to post
Last year they had seasonal, weekend only DSM-PHX with the winter extension and last schedule release they added daily daily DSM-PHX thru the middle of December. Hopefully they bring back a daily flight or at least weekend service until April like last year.Jump to post
Full release info for those interested. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/southwest-airlines-extends-flight-schedule-through-early-2019-300657031.html It’s weird that article has no mention of the new daily DSM-PHX. I watched this pretty close last winter when it operated for 2-3 months. Bes...Jump to post

There's a daily DSM-PHX flight. This was weekends only last year, and didn't begin until January. Edit: Unless they haven't fully loaded the schedule yet, this flight appears to end December 15. This flight is on a 738. This is a huge bump for a small station like DSM, going from 3 flights a day to...Jump to post
Delta's B717s probably have a lot lower cycles on them, Hawaiian could buy some of the newest from that fleet as DL is introducing the CS100. Honestly, something like that could be a good idea....have HA and DL sublease a few 717's off eachother for a few years, say in between heavy C or D checks. ...Jump to post
A D-check is not that expensive, $2-3M for 737s, and if it was truly due then it’s customary for the seller to take the full cost of the upcoming check out of the sale price. If it was due sometime in the future then a pro-rated portion of the check cost would come out of the price. Indeed, that's ...Jump to post
Is there gate space for an airline to start a hub? I know they’re extending the terminal, but how many gates will that add? If I remember correctly, AUS is bursting at the seems with the current airline operations. Also, while not a hub, WN has a pretty sizeable operation here and could pretty easil...Jump to post
Well, I'd imagine part of it is that they already have over 500 73Gs in the fleet; they have also been successful in finding used 73Gs on attractive terms, with 18 pre-owned -700s added or planned to be added from the start of 2017 onward. However there are only 5 used 700’s at PAE undergoing refur...Jump to post
Oh my gosh. The article says there’s a movement to boycott DL because of this. Overreact much?
The olympics end tomorrow. Every flight out of ICN will probably be packed for the next few days. There probably isn’t even 5-6 first class seats available on their flight.
Our schedule is only being extended to Sept 28th with this release. Fares should go active around 6am Central Time. Is it only until the 28th? The Website says it’s getting extended to Oct 1. While it’s cool to have these schedule releases and see the new routes, it frustrates me their schedule onl...Jump to post
SO any body think they roll out Hawaii in this week's schedule release? The last few new cities they added were announced in the days leading up to the schedule release. Also, Hawaii would be a big announcement, so I’d expect this trend to continue. That being said, if there’s no press release toda...Jump to post
What’s their gate situation at DEN? Are they tapped out there or do they have room for growth? As with every schedule extension, I hope this is the time they add DSM-DEN. They also just started the seasonal DSM-PHX flight, I’d like to see them make that daily and hopefully year round, but honestly I...Jump to post
On new cities FAT or MSN seems most likely (but not very likely). For actual announcements I would guess PAE Historically WN has only opened 1 maybe 2 cities per year (international has been a slightly different animal). This year they opened CVG and they also just announced PAE. Last year it was L...Jump to post

[twoid][/twoid] Just wanted to mention that there is now a separate thread concerning PAE air service (including this new WN service announcement.) bb Should this thread remain for WN Q4 results discussion, and PAE service discussion go to the other thread then? I’m honestly kind of surprised by thi...Jump to post
Are they doing any more Military charters? I saw several DL 744s doing Military charters over the last several months. I’m flying home from my deployment soon and it’d be a treat to get to ride one of these one more time before they’re gone. On my way out here I got to ride a UA 744 and I was one of...Jump to post
Maybe it’s time they restart LAX-DSM. The last time UA tried this route was summer 2008 with CR7s. At that time fuel prices were through the roof and the economy was tanking. Des Moines has been growing like crazy, emplacements at the airport are at record highs and growing, LA is the biggest destin...Jump to post
I would guess DSM. Especially since F9 just announced seasonal DSM-SFO... I agree. F9 is seasonal and I think 3x per week. If UA came in with a well timed daily flight they could make this work on an E175 and either coexist with F9 or knock them off the route. It’s 1,550nm which is about 200 fewer ...Jump to post
Did anyone else see N175UA do the wing wave this moring on its way to VCV? And N174UA wasnt long behind it Such a shame. N174UA was the last one I flew on this past summer. Hard to believe its gone for good now. Amen! I was lucky enough to ride in N174UA a month ago on a Military charter to Kuwait....Jump to post
I wonder how much will Boeing sold each aircraft at, compare to the price of regular 788 and compare to the price of 767 they sold a few years ago due to delay in 787 program. And is it really that undesirable to make more 788 instead? I fully expect the 767s will be cheaper than the 787s, but as I...Jump to post
The real question is why isn't the air force training new pilots? People would sign up in droves to become pilots paid for by the government. We are. The problem is we can’t train new pilots fast enough. And pilots are separating at the end of their 10 year commitment to go to airlines instead of s...Jump to post
I know WN has added lots of flights from my home airport of OMA the last few years. New flights to LAX, MCO, TPA, HOU, DCA. Some seasonal, some year round. The only obvious missing link in my mind is BNA. BNA currently has no nonstop service from OMA and it a pretty big WN station. I think this wou...Jump to post
I’m too lazy to read through the already 600+ posts in the C-Series/Airbus thread..so I’ll ask here. How soon (do we know yet?) can Airbus start selling C-series aircraft? Delta already has commitments for 125 aircraft with all their options. They might want to wait until they’ve operated them to se...Jump to post
Would have been nice to see OKC get a flight or two to PHL. With UA making their EWR flight seasonal, might've been an opportunity for AA to pick up some international connections. Guess the good people of OKC will continue to have to go through DFW and CLT and wait for F9 to try OKC-PHL. OKC defin...Jump to post
The majority of this property is condos, only one building is a hotel, and it doesn't look very big. The website does mention a fully-managed Resident Rental Program. Although it was just added on the last schedule, what are the chances WN takes DSM-PHX from weekend only to daily on this schedule extension? Phoenix is a popular destination from DSM, especially for the spring travel season, and I think the route would be a slam dunk for WN.Jump to post
