Re: IDG load indication, and power network regulation

If the FA's turned on all the ovens at once, would you see a measurable increase in N1 / N2? That is an interesting question, like engine RPM on cars as accessories are turned on (fog lights, head lights, power seats, power windows, etc). Thinking out loud, at a high power setting I'm not sure the ...

Re: DL Suspends BGM for at Least a Month Due to Runway Work

For reader reference, BGM / KBGM / Greater Binghamton Airport has two runways;

16/34, 7304 ft long, 150 ft wide
10/28, 5001 ft long, 150 ft wide

The article lacks full detail however I assume the closed runway is 16/34 and I assume Skywest Airlines operated CRJ200s for Delta Connection.

I'm happy homes were found for these jets. I find it fascinating Delta was able to sell 19 E190 at a unit cost greater than they recently purchased a 777-200ER. Either the E190 retains value well or there aren't many on the second hand market. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-17/why-d...

AvHerald indicates the tail strike occurred on go-around. Why was the go-around initiated? According to AvHerald the weather was unremarkable at the time of incident/accident. Re: A330F available with choice of engines?

If the 800 has a new wing optimized for one engine per wing, how would it be suitable as a tanker. The refueling port pods on the A330 MRTT are placed where the 1 and 4 engines would go on an A340. An A330-800 wing would need extra reinforcement where refuelling pods go. This would negate the goal ...

Re: Which engine does Southwest Airlines start first?

Normally the #2 engine is started first. However if the APU is not working the #1 engine is started first. It appears engine start side is opposite the pressurized bleed air side? Eg - Assuming a closed isolation valve the APU pressurizes the LHS and the external connection pressurizes the RHS. I w...

I wonder if we will see a Neo A330F... I imagine we will. It is assumed, in spite of poor relative sales, Airbus will continue development of the A330-800 as it is the logical base for future freighter and military multi role derivatives. That said, I wonder when a freighter derivative will be laun...

Donald Trump 757 - Exit Outlines

While reviewing photos of Donald Trump's 757 I noticed it's exits are not outlined. Donald Trump's livery is similar to the US Airways livery of the early 2000; a dark blue or black crown followed by a red strip (or series of stripes) and a gray or white belly. US Airways 757s exits are clearly outl...
