Re: AA expanding Premium Economy, reducing J, in 788 fleet

I think the airlines are playing a dangerous game, though. Long-haul First Class has either vanished or become a niche product as a result of airlines improving their Business Class products to be virtually indistinguishable from (or better than) the First Class of years past, while Premium Economy...

Yes, an A380-capable gate on F was opened for use in December 2017. There was a request in March 2018 for funding to make another F gate A380 capable but not sure what happened with that since by then AF and KE ceased regular A380 service (if AF ever had it at all besides one-offs). Re: Did United operate EWR-NRT prior to merger with CO

A lot of the guys I fly with on the 57 out on the west coast tell stories of a -400 base in EWR back in maybe mid 90’s. I never knew that until hearing from the guys that actually flew it. I would assume United did like most other carrier did/do now and any base that is at JFK is technically a base...

Even though the DTW-WAW market isn't the largest, its larger than ATL-WAW and is decent geographically speaking for connections. However, the flight would be better suited out of JFK during the summer with a 1 one way flight from DTW (same flight number with a plane change). Re: AA and SFO widebodys!

I think some of y'all are overthinking it. SFO generates a ton of O&D demand on its own as do DFW, PHL, and MIA. It's perfectly logical that there'd be increased capacity during the peak summer travel season for already busy links between SFO and AA's large hubs. Sure, some passengers may connec...

Stupid question: does any of the US3 still allow one checked bag for free? Or is there a fee from bag 1? Yeah, the African art between T and A has been there for 20-ish years, and in my opinion, it's staid and needs to be replaced. I think it showed up when E was opened '94-ish just before ATL hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics. There is a much newer exhibit between A and B, I think, that mimics walking t...

ATL is not some big international tourist destination. DL makes it works due to the business market and it’s huge connecting hub to pick up traffic especially across the Southeast. The international ULCC’s don’t have access to that hub (easily- people can self connect if they want), have greater di...

It seems the discussion has roped in FA bases along with pilot bases. (Or are there just crew bases that include both FAs and pilots?) DL doesn't want to serve NRT from JFK. It wants to serve HND. I bet they are angling that they'll get a slot to serve JFK-HND before long. Or possibly appeal to move MSP's HND flight to JFK (certainly to cause an uproar from AA & UA fans on these forums) if MSP doesn't pan out? In the meantime, ...
