Overall, you're going to have more incidents happen at takeoff. Considering planes that crash upon take off never make it to final approach, you're dealing with different numbers. I have the specific numbers listed in a reputable aviation text book but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Ya, but wouldn't you eliminate the primary danger? I can handle not having power steering or power breaks as long as I know the accelerator isn't stuck at 130.
