RE: If Japan Built Aircraft

China is currently in ascension. The world has no choice but to accept a Chinese civil aviation industry (coupled very tightly to a military enterprise). This is simply the way of the world. Europe should actually gain an edge if this were to happen as they don't seem to have the tight export restri...

RE: If Japan Built Aircraft

Scotron11: A regional consortium brings nothing new to the table. The technology to build an all composite aircraft is basically American/NASA. Japan simply provided a lot of indirect aid and the promise that JP based airlines would buy only Boeing...

RE: If Japan Built Aircraft

"Japan", or more accurately the Japan heavy industry consortium often do engage in flights of fancy so to speak. These however they simply don't have the money, the marketing clout, or even a good reputation these days. But given that the vast majority of 7E7 work is going to take place in Japan, th...

RE: Is KIX Still Sinking?

It's still sinking. Physically, the rate has slowed down and they don't think it will be too big a problem to fix when the runways finally settle. But money wise, they are already sunk. And it's only going to get worse when Chubu opens up.

RE: F/A-22 Question

AA7573E, your insights are interesting but not quite as revolutionary as Rumsfeld's. Computing power is growing so quickly that a the notion of a human piloted aircraft, with all it's assorted airframe compromises meant to keep the pilot alive, will be passe in 10-15 years. Any future conflict invol...

RE: Denied Boarding By Delta Due To "security Reasons"

There are two sides to every story. For the DL security agent, the ticket and itin are suspicious. For 747-437B, the questions are absurd. But, if a white guy were to have the same identical itin and meet the same agent, how likely is it he would be g...

RE: Airport Hotel Near Nagoya Airport

What airline are you taking? If you are up for it, I would strongly recommend the ANA hotel in Nagoya city itself. It's about 30 min by shuttle bus. The rates are from 8,000 on up. http://www.grandcourt.co.jp I have no relationship with them. I just stayed there a few times and thought it was decent.

RE: Airbus May Spend $2 Bill Challenge Boeing's 7e7

N160LH , Airbus committed to building the A330 tanker in the US. Airbus aircraft, in general, have over 50% US content in them to begin with. The 777 on the other hand is over 35% foreign. The 7E7 will likely be around 70% foreign. The next 737 will likely be all composite and all foreign (probably ...

RE: Importance Of SQ Delaying 7E7 Order

Planemaker, You have hit the proverbial nail right on the head. The 7E7 is cost effective because the Japanese govt is heavily subsidizing the research, development, and construction of a vast majority of the aircraft. Given the state of Japanese manufacturing, quality, and more importantly, the abi...
