Anything is possible regarding 737s to Rouge however it’s a 5 year old rumour. It would start a lot of retraining for pilots which is costly to the company. Educated sources have indicated MEL will return in winter 2025 once the 1st of the new 787s arrive. No retraining required. Just paint the pla...

DELTA " RED COATS " used to hang around the EASTERN gates back then. when EA cancelled or delayed the flights. DL would book the passengers on their flights ... they were like vultures circling a wounded animal ... Common practice for sure back in the day. UA used to do it all the time to...

I mean considering the fact that they didn't even have enough demand for LHR-LAX (two of some of the most high yielding cities in the world), maybe there is a reason behind this. Given your level of sophisticated knowledge of the industry, explain the rationale for UA flying 777s from BOS-SFO or AA...
Jump to postMay I ask you and anyone who wants to share, as OT as the question is, what are those premium markets DL flies to? I'm mostly referring to the NYC-LAX/SFO markets that are currently seeing almost exclusively 767s. Also ATL-LAX/SFO/SEA, routes along those lines. Putting brand new A330neo's on JFK-LA...
Jump to postUsed to happen all the time with Westbound L1011s on the Atlantic. Toronto bound flights were "cleared to Mirabel" by ATC and would file the alternate as YYZ with an en-route diversion if able. It’s nothing nefarious. Flight is leaving after the system changes dates and the AF system can only handle one AFxxx per day. Look up any international AF flight that’s been delayed hours into the night and you’ll usually see it’s now AF40xx As FGITD says, this is the reason. Has always happened. N...
Jump to postTwo thoughts to consider that have been rumored in the past (both recent and distant): 1) A339 a/c reconfigs to more premium heavy layout reducing spread between 767 pax totals and A339. No reason they can't have High/Low-J fleets. Look at VS A339 config at 262 pax as an example: https://www.aerolop...
Jump to postI would argue that on a 30 minute flight having any service beyond passing out water bottles is nothing but a nuisance. This article is about JAL's first A35K delivery, but it is also the first NPS A350-1000 delivered: https://simpleflying.com/inside-japan-airlines-airbus-a350-1000-new-unique-features/ It mentions an impressive 35* increase in cabin length for the A35K, so this should add another row of Y doesn't it...

Tldr I don’t completely disagree with you, TPAC isn’t some secret cash cow, and SEA and LAX (for DL) just aren’t SFO (for UA) in terms of hub size. Still, you’d think with DL’s presence in NYC they’d be able to secure enough business for profitable flights to financial centers like HKG and SIN. Oh ...

Jump to postUnfortunately, in the OAG guides I found, only major international cities are listed. KEF airport isn't included. I am pretty sure Keflavik Airport is listed... Jump to postUnfortunately, in the OAG guides I found, only major international cities are listed. KEF airport isn't included. Only found it by starting in the ATH guide.
You can find a few old OAG guides here: http://www.departedflights.com/oagintro.html
In July 1983 timetable, OA operated a daily 737 flight from ATH-EFL.
In January 1989 timetable, OA Operated 3-weekly 737 flights from ATH-EFL.
and looks like in October 1996, OA operated daily AT7 flights from ATH-EFL.
Hope that helps.

There are around 24-26 763s being used for international service currently, down from 56 pre-pandemic. So why does it still feel like the 763 still dominates transatlantic out of ATL and JFK? 747LR for JAL was the regular/long-ranged 747s. They sub-classed them that way given they had a fleet of 747-SRs.
