While the subject of database editing is online, is there any chance of sorting out the designation of aircraft like the Bell 429 which isn't called the GlobalRanger, and the EC725 which is called the Caracal regardless of whether it serves with the French Air Force or Army.

Presumably you've tried the lens on a different body? I only ask about the body because my 24-105 doesn't like my 50Ds very much unless its on centre-point focussing and then it works a treat.

To add to what Mark and Chris says, its not just the road in front of you generating heat, but also the inner perimeter road and the taxiway as well, probably worth waiting now until September before the sun returns to a reasonable height in the sky for nice approach shots in the middle of the day.

Heat Haze is worst when you get an area of concrete between you and your subject, if there is a taxyway or even a runway in front of you then the subject is behind that, kiss goodbye to your pictures...

It really depends on what sort of shots you are looking for, but you need to get to the crowdline early on in the day if you want unrestricted shots if you don't want kids hanging off your legs, or selfish gits with windbreaks hogging the front...

I am intrigued by now that was taken at 1/25th of a second, I would have thought that an aircraft travelling at about 150/160mph at that point would have produced far more movement, and probably a more blurred aircraft...not a critisism, merely an observation...

I watched this aircraft landing yesterday, it seemed to do a very awkward looking control adjustment just seconds before landing.
