What about going to the Bank? I am not sure if the Australian banks in your area have a special fund, but you could try. I know here in Canada (or in my city) the banks have set up a special pot for funds to help out over there. What about the United Way? Would they be able to help?

Just got home from work and in my truck I have an air temp and a Road temp display it was reding -19 to -22C for Air and Road Temp was about -17C, Salt is usless on roads that are that cold, I had to use Sand, ugh crappy crap crap.
