RE: Canon Speedlite 430EX

The 430EX does a good job and it's only 1/2 a stop less powerful than the 550EX. I've used it with a 10D but the 550EX makes life much easier if you are able to get one.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi Darren,

Also known as the 'forgotten 400', this is a fantastic lens as per the reviews. The built in lens hood is really neat too. Even though it's f/5.6, it's still super fast and sharp.

I tried 'Royal Gold' film once and won't touch it again! Although it claims to have 'super fine grain' it really lacks in contrast I think. The normal GOLD 100 has a bit more 'punch' in it and I would use that rather than Royal Gold.

I set my sharpness to 0 and do all my sharpening in Photoshop. I've never ever used the sharpening in the scanning stage but might give it a try. I don't know if it's me or the scanner, but when I scan slides that are un-mounted they seem to come out very nice and sharp. Jason Milligan MEL/YMML
