Short term answer: No Long term answer : Yes! What's the difference? San Antonio itself will ultimately benefit from Austin's boon in the sense that Austin is getting expensive and overcrowded, so San Antonio is the obvious nearby destination for people seeking a similar lifestyle at lower cost, and...
Jump to postICHAN needs to force B6 to open up another hub in the MIDWEST .. an airport that already has existing gate space, routes that can support the hub with existing PDEW today on routes that were abandoned years ago to mergers and a a BK ... that airport is MKE ... MKE is a beautiful idea. Milwaukee cou...
Jump to postJetBlue gone? That's bad news and rather surprising. They are a refreshing alternative to the big 4. I always thought they could do something in the MIdwest with a mini hub at MKE. Pity the state doesn't seem to want to put much into modernising the airport (see 'master plan' of some years back).
Jump to postI also find it bizarre that Breeze doesn't open a big base at MKE, the market is begging for it. Get the county to cough up a renovation at concourse E (add international arrivals while they're at it) and it's like a red carpet. Seriously though, I suspect Breeze needs to expand slowly due to not ha...
Jump to postSo... everyone knows (at least on this forum) that MCI is Kansas City, but having visited KC recently I've found locally people constantly refer to it as KCI, including in the media. Seems like this is a good way to sow confusion. And of course KCI makes a lot more sense anyway. As far as I can tell...
Jump to post"Chase Sapphire Lounge - D/E Connector (Opening at the end of 2024)"
I'll believe it when i see the Flagship Lounge!
Anyone think the F9 flights will work to reduce fares? Frontier is such a god awful airline it would really take a lot for me to fly them, but if it helps me fly AA more comfortably I'm all for it.
Jump to postAnd the guy happens to be an utter slob with the lamest possible music... yep, that's tik tok.
Jump to postDare I ask... anyone hear anything about either of the new clubs allegedly opening at PHL - Chase & Flagship? The last I heard, Chase was planning a 2023 opening. I imagine that's a long shot, but anyone been there recently and seen any sign of construction or activity?
Jump to postYes - I flew from TTN once. Very convenient, thought I must say Frontier was tolerable but I'd do it far more often if AA flew there, even if it meant connecting at ORD or CLT. But seems protecting the hub would be more important to them. Ive always thought it flanking PHL with ORD/CLT flights from ...
Jump to postWhatever it takes, OAK deserves more business, plus BART is very convenient, if not the same as coming from SFO if you're going downtown.
Jump to postRe: Qatar
This does seem like overkill. Why would AA want to compete with a partner? why not add some other route?
These terminal renderings are incredible. I'll take.... any of them. Lots of talk about ACY. Although it wouldn't be good for PHL directly, I feel like AA could fly ACY to ORD and CLT and just skip PHL altogether and it might be better for AA vs the other carriers (for that matter they could do it a...
Jump to postAmong the world's best? Ha, this is a bit surprising but good news! Connect all the concourses and add some Europe service and i'll believe it more heartily...
Jump to postAs per the NY times: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/13/nyregion/laguardia-lga-airtrain.html To be honest, I say good. It was very silly to try to run this train to Willits Point. Should have been an extension of the N train all along. Now it seems express busses will have to fill the gap for now, b...
Jump to postThis MKE plan is very exciting. It looks like there is a short term replacement for concourse E with 2 or 3 gates then some kind of longer term plan to extend it adjacent to the roadway for 4 or 5 more gates? Regardless, I would assume that is where international arrivals will live? I didn't have th...
Jump to postHas PHL ever had service to Asia? It must be one of the biggest markets in the US with no service. I would think a JAL connection at Tokyo would be an obvious connection opportunity, even if only for the PHL market!
Jump to postOn another airport note, anyone have a clue if the new Admirals "Flagship" club is ever going to open in terminal A? It's been ages!
Jump to postThis is really interesting. Does this mean the bus goes through some kind of secure gate out onto the tarmac?
Jump to postThey have a good partnership with AA and others who can provide those services. Also they have no aircraft that could fly those routes. Hoever, some years ago they flew to Russia - Vladivostok and several cities in Siberia, which was kind of cool but collapsed during one of Russia's economic breakdo...
Jump to postI'm excited to see this. Does anyone think AA would ever serve TTN? To, say, ORD & CLT for peopel who want to avoid the drive to PHL? Or would that be considered cannibalistic to PHL? I would think there's enough of a loyal AA base of travellers that some would appreciate it! (me, for example)
Jump to post"The ultra low cost carriers sure have made flying available to everyone"
The ultra low cost carriers, and even the regular carriers with basic economy, provoke this stuff. Not saying there's an excuse for going that bonkers, but I know the feeling.
Another gripe - AA's FF program has a lot of flaws when compared to UA and DL. Firstly, no credit card waiver for minimum annual spend. Secondly, the ridiculous 500 mile voucher system which needlessly complicates upgrades. Just my two cents, but it's one thing that keeps me from flying them more th...
Jump to postI'd love to see them grab MKE-SFO before (or if ever) United does it. Heck, throw in MKE-LAX, why not? Only one WN flight a day that's always priced high and full can't be too hard to compete with.
Jump to postBit of a rant... Like many of you I love looking at route maps. Mainly just for kicks but also so that I can see clearly where an airline flies non-stop. You used to be able to get a clear route map on almost any airline's website. The really good ones allowed you to mouse-over a city and easily see...
Jump to postWow, I'm amazed to see MSN-SFO before MKE-SFO but so it goes! Hope the latter sees the light of day some day.
Jump to post"reading the terms of their ticket" Although this guy is obviously an idiot, berating people for not reading terms and conditions doesn't help matters. Maybe he doesn't fly much? Maybe someone booked the ticket for him? Most people don't read terms and conditions on things. Fees like this ...
Jump to post"Omg please tell me that is a United ad on the side of it"
No, it's actually PenFed, a credit union. But that would have been darkly funny.
I feel pretty good about MKE over RFD. First of all MKE is rolling out the red carpet for any and all new flights - especially Europe which they've never had. The city and local press would go bananas for it. Second, MKE is not much further from Chicago than RFD but is a far better established airpo...
Jump to postI find it funny that people defend this practice, though if it's legal, why not?
I guess I'm a no good communist because I think charging for seat selection (aside from premium seats) should simply be illegal. This is why we have basic consumer protection laws. Feel free to disagree
"A lot of business travelers throughout the year can use this direct flight," I gotta be honest - I don't think a lot of business travelers are going to take a redeye to GDL. No disrespect to Volaris, this service is a great addition to MKE, but traveling for business, the preference will ...
Jump to postGiven Delta's (not so surprising) divorce from Alaska as a frequent flyer partner, how much longer do you all think AA will last? It seems like a much more friendly arrangement than Delta but still, with the Virgin merger well underway it would seem a little tension might brew. Any thoughts?
Jump to post85 Miles ... Indeed!
But still, that's 85 miles with a lot of hassle. I too am surprised at the lack of AA love in MKE.
Wow great news! Pity it's a redeye, but you've got to start somewhere!
Jump to postLoving everything I've seen about LGA these days except one thing: GROUND TRANSPORTATION. The current AirTrain plan is a complete disgrace that will cost a gazillion dollars and accomplish nothing. The AirTrain needs to go west and connect directly with the Subway, ideally at Astoria or better yet, ...
Jump to postI love the idea! But yes, a dream at this point. I would expect MKE-LAX on Delta sooner as well.
Jump to postThis sounds fine to me!
I reckon about 1/3 of the time when I fly United I wind up sitting there waiting for a gate to open. Granted I'm flying at premium times but still I would gladly get out and rid a bus rather than sit there for 20-30 minutes twiddling my thumbs.
This all seems quite predictable. So... why not just shut down car access and open a dedicated shuttle bus lane that goes to some remote lot? And is also open to MTA busses. As a bonus, why not offer a special manhattan shuttle bus for the next couple years that runs right to key locations in Manhat...
Jump to postGreat discussion. Seems like a lot of this bleed may also be about AA and United protecting their hub at ORD too (I'm guessing) as well as Delta not having much interest in overflying DTW & MSP. So that would seem to open the door to another airline to pick up some of this pent up demand. My rad...
Jump to postI did not think this would get off the ground, so to speak, but the project to bring a 747 to burning man and turn it into a roving art-car, party machine, moving disco extravaganza is at least partly underway: http://sfist.com/2016/08/16/burning_man ... ting_d.php
Pretty cool!
I call these "liar's flights" because, frankly, listing them is dishonest. I think that airlines list them (and maybe are encouraged by airports) simply for the vanity aspect of it - to show that there is a "direct flight" from STL to London and people who don't know any better w...
Jump to postYikes. Well I'm trying to be open minded, but the compact nature of the old site made it MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to see what was new in one quick glance. This design seems like you're favoring mobile devices. I know that's all the rage these days but I think doing it just for the sake of doing it real...
Jump to postDon't small aircraft negotiate this kind of thing all the time? Or is there something particular about this being a test flight that annoys Russia?

Jump to postFor a building that will be used (barely) once a week this seems like pretty drastic overkill! But still, would be fun to visit!
Jump to postGreat news for <acronym title="Milwaukee - General Mitchell International (MKE / KMKE), USA - Wisconsin">MKE</acronym>. Jump to postAh yes, Tower air. I miss them. They were fun as long as you kept your expectations really low. It was a flying party and the planes were super dirty. Ripped seats & graffiti.
