Surprised AUH-LAX is a 77W now. Flown the segment many times now and the LF is lousy outside the holidays. The used to stuff the LR full of freight, though. 789 seems so much more appropriate.

Just flew LGW LAX on DI and we pulled right up next to the Wamos 744 at the remote stands. I was wondering this exact thing, 'I wonder if this is a sub due to the RR issue' but my light operated on the 789 as scheduled.

Fire on roof, photos in the link, doesn't look too bad, but its night, so hard to tell the real damage. To me, looks like the external cladding is burning, not a major structural fire.

Seychelles is really not seeking to be flooded with tourism. Its a rather expensive visit and they want to keep it that way. Certainly food and lodging is right up there with the most expensive places I've ever been. Like Moscow/London expensive.

I've carried close to that amount, too. I took a -Stans tour that required payment in cash. For the flight LAX-ICN and ICN-TAS you better believe that the cash was in my little bag under my feet and not in the overhead. I had a day and night in Seoul, too and didn't leave it in the hotel, either.

Its more than laptops, for me, no way was I going to put expensive camera gear in the hold. And I have a kindle as I would like to read some on my 16:45 hour AUH-LAX sector.

Preclearance has a new, larger setup at AUH than when they first implemented it. Its great. And I'm glad EY solved the issue.

Just flew an Air China 789, and they were twin jacks. Why they were installed on a new airframe like that, I have no idea. But it's China, there may be no explanation.

Flown EY out of LAX 4 times in the last couple years. Its never full, and you almost always have a row of seats in Y. Don't know the LF up front. Also notice that they do stuff the bird full of freight. Can't imagine its a big money maker, its a long, long flight.

It's expensive. WN and AS both have horrid shorter notice fares. Flew to PDX out of LAX 2 weeks ago because it was nearly triple to do the flight out of BUR. LGB was double. Love BUR to death, but unless I book way in advance, it's just too expensive.

Buquebus, a bus and ferry carrier between Uruguay and Buenos Aires dabbled in air service a few years ago. I think they tried to fill the void when Pluna went bankrupt. BQB as the Buquebus owned airline was named, lasted like a year or two. I don't hold much hope for these two new airlines, either.

The problem with one stop service in East Asia is that all of the sudden you are but one option to CGK. Korean, Asiana, ANA, JAL, EVA, PAL, Cathay,the Chinese carriers also offer one stops via East Asia from LAX. Tough market. But, hey, I welcome Garuda back to LAX.

I was just going to mention the awful 3-4AM departures DEL/BOM to DXB/AUH and such. Terrible.

I just had a bad one arriving from SEZ to AUH at 1AM and departing for LAX around 8AM.

Lots of dreadful connections through the Gulf Hubs.
