Re: BA Livery. Time for a change?

Since you have a lot to say, then I’m guessing that you’re well aware that the name British Airways actually dates back to 1935 and not 1974. Do you have a citation for that? Wikipedia, The BA website, encyclopaedia Britannica and the UK press all cite 1974 as the start of trading under British Air...

Re: British Airways turns 50 years old

Correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not incredibly familiar with BA history, but I believe the company you’re referring to was British Continental Airways, founded in 1935, and rolled into British Airways Ltd, which then merged with Imperial to become BOAC? The reason for the debate is simple. BA no dou...

Re: British Airways turns 50 years old

I like how many are quick to point to 1974, but ignore the fact that the name British Airways, pre-dates this. The name was originally used in 1935. British Airways we know today is the result of various Acts of Parliament that merged, split and merged various British airline companies. Mergers of s...

Re: BA Livery. Time for a change?

BA celebrated 50 years, the older celebration was about what are essentially defunct legacy brands. TBF the 50th anniversary has got press coverage here in the UK but BA have not made a big deal about it. Personally I think both need to be celebrated and present opportunities for promotion. To be c...

The figures being quoted are incorrect and BA has not confirmed a final number as yet. Many areas are still going through the process and have not communicated the outcomes to the staff in those departments.

Re: Caribbean Aviation Thread - 2020

The news broke today that VS is going to make almost a third of its employees redundant and close its LGW base. I do not expect to see another VS aircraft in the Caribbean again, a big shame as the airline has served the region since September 1998 from LGW starting with BGI and UVF with ANU a mont...

Re: Caribbean Aviation Thread - 2020

Why does ANU not get the premium 777s then? Its a more upscale destination. Sandals is an upper tier mass market resort, aimed directly to the middle class, who want a quality resort. Its NOT a premium brand in the USA, so I dont see why it would be in the UK. ANU does get them and have been gettin...

Re: BA could make up to 12.000 employees redundant

I will start by admitting that I am impacted by this and face prospect of not having a job in a few months and have tried to stay out of this but some of the comments just beggars belief. Too many of us at BA have been too complacent for too long and the job retention scheme has just served to give ...

Is it just me or are the Virgin Atlantic and British Airways A350's taking forever to roll out??? BA is on track and is planned for July delivery. Everything is proceeding according to the build plan. Not sure about the VS one as it seems like this should be further ahead of BA but it appears that ...

Lots to cover here. Bear with me! And to set the record straight, all of BA A350-1000s have the appropriate crew rest facilities. They will come fitted with flight crew bunks but not cabin crew bunks - this has been confirmed internally. So that will limit the range although not to the extent of no...

I don't know where many of you get your "facts" from. Alex Cruz is speaking based on the evaluation conducted by experienced and knowledgeable individuals from many areas across BA and IAG as to what the best aircraft would be for the mission BA intends. Airbus offered a mix of A380/A350 v...
