Jump to postThe world is highly convoluted on all levels. We live in an unfair world. Everyone is doing whatever they can to increase their influence. Ah yes, it's a dog eat dog world, you've got to get or be gotten, etc. etc. The problem is that from this Kissingeresque realpolitik perspective Russia is also ...
Jump to postTrue. But Ukraine should also not be forced into perpetuating a losing war by the likes of Boris Johnson who doesn't have any skin in the game. Boris Johnson has precisely zero to do with it. Ukraine was forced into war because Russia invaded, with war goals of "as much as they can get away wi...
Jump to postNot the first time you've brought up "Neocons" pejoratively either, and I have to wonder why. Is it because they profited by launching a war of aggression for completely fabricated reasons? If so, then rewarding Russia for the same behavior that they indulged in by legally recognizing its ...
Jump to postWhat is needed to turn the tide for good is Diplomacy. It should be blatently obvious to everyone by now that Ukraine does not have the troops on the ground to beat back the Russians. Jump to postI hope BGR does well - I have a sentimental attachment to that airport. Ate at one of the last Howard Johnson's restaurants with my dad there in 2013 and saw the An-225 land there in 2020.

Jump to postCan't disagree with you on that account. We've been late, always late, in counteracting ruskie actions. Now, kremlin dwarf has put the whole charade of "elections" behind, and can get to work. Also, in Transnistria, a "congress of deputies of all levels" has been sitting for day...
Jump to postSitting here with my popcorn, I point out that the WSJ article says 375 aircraft have this part. However, there are over 1100 787s in service. I'm wondering what the difference is: is there an improved less-fragile rocker switch? If so, why isn't it on the whole fleet? Or is that number wrong? Or s...
Jump to postFrankly, it's foolish how the house keeps blocking any further Ukraine aid. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate effort to let Russia win or simply accepting collateral damage as long as it gives them an upper hand in domestic politics. Either way, I find it despicable. You've made the mistake of assi...

I won't have a chance to see the U-2 at Beale? I thought the tankers were at Travis, not Beale. The U-2 is at Beale, and they do fly, but usually without their transponders so harder to track, and I'm not sure how visible they are on the ground. Most of the tankers are at Travis, but the 940th ARW ...
Jump to postThe tankers do get a flight in almost every weekday (call sign "Tahoe" on the radio) but the 9th RW black T-38s also fly pretty often. It may be easier to get a shot of them at one of the airports they tend to visit frequently (MHR, SMF, SCK) than it is at Beale proper, though.
Jump to postYou may be able to get something from Hammonton-Smartsville Road if runway 15 is in use (depends on winds.) I've only stopped there briefly, though, so I can't speak with a whole lot of authority.

The Air Force has lacked pragmatism since the mid-1970s. The last pragmatic decision the USAF made was to adopt the Navy's F-4 fighter. The Navy often will choose a pragmatic solution. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is an example of Navy pragmatism, going with a new, upgraded version of a 4th generatio...
