United had quite a local service network here in California during that time. Routes like the "Valley Queen" LAX-VIS-MCE-MOD-SCK-SFO, and airports like BFL, SBA, MRY and FAT saw the early 737s that had replaced Convair 340 and DC-6Bs.

I know that the Flight Attendants on the South American flights were all based down there. I know there were bases in LIM and SCL. Nothing like non reving on the quick SFO-LAX portion of the South American runs and being treated so nicely by the Latin crews!

Not much room to park in San Jose lately. Especially overnight. Perhaps when the extension south from Terminal B (Gates 31-34) opens next summer they'll be more wiggle room.

For this SoCal kid, TI was sort of an exotic creature back at 1970's LAX. With their three big DC-9 non stops to Albuquerque that continued on to such locales as Roswell and Hot Springs. I flew on them just once DEN-SLC (with a full hot lunch) back in June 1975.

I believe that hanger was either incorporated into the United maintenance base, or torn down when the base was expanded in the 70s. Yes. Agreed. It would be fantastic if this was a new fleet-wide livery moving forward. AS is well into their rebranding. Changing it at this point doesn't make a lot of sense. And their rebranding has been well-received, so no need to change it. Honestly, I doubt it's even under consideration beyon...
