RE: Southwest/US Airways TUS-LAS-MKE-PHX-TUS (pics)

Nice report. I have been to Tucson a couple times to visit the Pima Air Museum and do the AMARC Plane Boneyard tour. Our children live in El Paso and Phoenix so we fly Southwest when all possible. We always do the 24 hour early check in via the computer. The 2 free bags is a nice feature. Most usual...

RE: Jetblue Plane Slides Off Runway @ SYR

I live about 60 miles east of the Syracuse Airport. Due to the bad Weather last night at around 10:30 <acronym title="Tropic Air (Belize)">PM</acronym> EST I tuned into the Live ATC.net to listen to what was going on at <acronym title="Syracuse - Hancock International (SYR / KSYR), USA - New York">S...

RE: Taxiway Lights At DTW

OK It looks like we got it. From the description on the website they looked more like the stake mounted devices without the spring. Also, as I remember the whole length of the pole was blue not just sections as shown on the Manufactures website. Interesting that they use Blue reflective but then the...

RE: Taxiway Lights At DTW

Regarding the use of these Blue Rods being used for deep snow detection. That might be a possibility. But around here in upsate NY where we get a good amount of snow those rods or poles are usually a bright florescant orange color for better detection. As much as I remember the height of the rods lo...

Taxiway Lights At DTW

On a recent trip through Detroit Metro Airport (<acronym title="Detroit - Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW / KDTW), USA - Michigan">DTW</acronym>) I noticed while taxing (daytime) that there was something strange looking next to the Blue Taxiway lights. Next to each light there was a small Blue colore...

I have read somewhere previously that John Wayne was also one of the nearby residents who often complained about the noise from the planes at Orange County. Then t...

737 Autoland Information Requested

What models of the 737 can do an autoland? Are the autoland capabilities the same for all the models? The reason I ask is that I was not aware until just recently that the 737-300, 400 and 500 can do autolands? I thought autoland was only an option available for the <acronym title="Lauda Air (Austri...

United provides ATC Audio on Channel 9 of its inflight entertainment system.
Does its affiliate TED do the same on its A320's?

Just glad to hear everybody survived! Well done Air France Crew! It will be interesting to find out if the plane was doing an autoland or a manual landing as another poster mentioned. On CNN earlier a planespotter witness said that it looked like the Air France A340 had landed a little deeper on the...

HAL, Excellent report! I always enjoy reading reports from the Pilot side of things such as yours. Please do more! Being as the Airbuses are capable of doing Autolands. I did not see any mention of using Autoland during any of your landings. Are you required to do any Autolands or are they optional?...
