For QF, surely LAX if they were to go East to LHR. JFK would need sunrise aircraft, whereas LAX is easily reached (and currently flown by) their A380s and 787s. I can see some of the ME3, especially EK service WSI. With the London comparison, remember that EK serve all 3 of the main London airports.
And some of the Asian airlines as discussed for the redeye services & some additional capacity.

If Bonza don't make it, I'm sure Rex, JQ & VA will pick up some of the Bonza routes, Albury flights to the Queensland resorts would be prime JQ & VA flying, and even now Rex could upgage some of their MEL-Mildura flights to 737's if the demand required it.

If QF mainline aren't interested in a return to KIX, MEL-KIX would be an ideal JQ route. But as above, any additional Japan flights would most likely be XLR's or 321LR's hubbed out of BNE and/or CNS. I couldn't see mainland US flights doing well in the current climate, but things can & do change...
