The Dash 8 already uses this- the A/C generators are run off the propeller reduction gearbox. The hydraulic pumps, boost pumps, TRU and prop heaters are all non- frequency sensitive.

The lencth of the towbar makes a negligable difference on an aircraft that size. Try towing a Cessna with a towbar longer than the wheelbase, Thats a Challenge!

BTW the 747 can be towed from either fwd or aft sides of the nose gear.

Yes, all Dash 8's flying DBA US Airways Express have APUs (100 & 300s for Piedmont & 200s for Mesa). They are in the tail cone, aft of the aft pressure dome. Hope that helps.

Wrong. none of Mesa's dash 8s have APUs.

A loader alone can cost $250,000 or more, not to mention the cost of additional support equipment required (dollies, tugs, or forklifts and slave racks,). Not sure what containers go for, the airlines usually purchase them.

They don't have to be full. Overnight air packages generate a significant enough revenue to more than justify the ops. cost of moving an aircraft. thats why if one breaks down, they are more than willing to send the standby aircraft to retrieve its load.

This is a normal Dash thing. the spoilers deploy for taxi, up until the power levers are advanced for takeoff. then, they automatically stow for flight. there is also an override switch to bring them down.

Piston engine aircraft typically run up to check the magnetos, run to specified RPM, then turn to magneto 1, watch for RPM drop, then mag 2 and watch for same. this lets you know that both mags are working corectly.

Dutch Roll, a common occurance in swept wing aircraft. The yaw damper is supposed to help counteract this, but I guess that the Embraer design has trouble keeping up. It's not dangerous though, just uncomfortable for pax.

On the CRJ the throttles have a shut off position as opposed to a separate fuel lever. The -700 and -900 are FADEC but even then I still gaurd the throttles on start up untill ITT rollback. only then do I feel safe that the engine is running good.
