Re: Australian Aviation - February 2024

This is probably well known here, but could the lighter models be upgraded to 338T MTOW? I’m not sure. Of those registrations only EBM required actual structural modifications, the others were all delivered capable. So I suspect it’s possible the others could have the increased MTOW. EBG and EBL. B...

Re: Was a possible A340-300 re-engine ever studied?

Though if some airline wanted quad engines on the plane today, I'm curious how the CFM-1A or PW-GTF 1100g will do. Is it fuel inefficient? Probably. Will it have better takeoff and climb performance? Fun thought experiment These modern fuel efficient engines should do wonders for cruise fuel burn b...

In July it was announced that 23 Qantas 737-800 aircraft were going to receive split-scimitar winglets beginning in December. The QF-Finnair arrangement is quite different. They are leasing the aircraft for a longer period of time (6 years) of which most of it is not a wet lease. The oldest A330s are 20 yrs old, if they placed a new 787 order now, how soon would they receive them? As for the history of the aircraft. EBA-EBD, EBJ, EBK started life with Qantas. Then Jetstar then back to Qantas. EBE-EBF started with Jetstar, then Qantas EBG, EBL, EBM-EBV have only flown with Qantas. So the aircraft being used on this BNE-LAX flight have never flown with Jetstar and are later (2...
