Re: Highest altitude acheived with 737-700

Ceiling is FL410 for the 700... so.... FL410. It has good climb performance similar to a 757 and A319. It's a bit more wiggly in my experience but does land nicer than the 800. I've had the 757 up to FL420 (max is FL430... never quite got light enough to hit FL430). Rock freaking solid all the way u...

RE: Saab 340 Engine Sound Pitch Change- Why?

The deep "BRRRROOOOOWWWWW" sound is when they put the engine into "beta" which is a flat to slightly negative angle of attack of the blades... i.e. a light amount of reverse.

When they come out of beta and back into forward thrust is when it goes quiet.

I didn't have an issue with the money- the key was that almost 6% of the pay bumps were paid for in profit sharing reduction, a new sick policy that was a complete can of worms, and significant work rules give backs.

Sorry, giving that up is not worth it for a modest pay bump.

The buzzsaw goes away as the airplane goes through the air faster and faster, too. N1 increases with altitude (cruise RPM is typically higher than takeoff RPM, particularly with a reduced thrust takeoff).

I always figured it had to do with the AOA of the fan blade.
