Good point. I'm leaning towards the 80-400mm, as that really suits my focal range.

Hi All!
I'm currently using a Nikon 70-300mm VR (the new version). It's a decent lens, but anything past 200mm is soft. I'm considering upgrading to an 80-400mm or 70-200f4. Which one should I go for?

Jump to postHi Len, I'd say that your "soft" sections in the image are around the nose and right hand winglet. Maybe your shutter speed was too slow?
