3400 ft/min is actually not very uncommon, also at high altitudes. CI 611 was on a (for a 747) fairly short flight, so a climb with a high fixed thrust setting (climb thrust) combined with a low weight (low trip fuel for flight) will yield otherwise uncommon performance.

As T-Bird already mentioned, the aircraft is operating a charter flight to Rio de Janeiro (GIG). It will then return to FRA for another flight to Cape Town (CPT), then head back to Vienna via FRA.

They don't deflect upwards. It doesn't make any sense in terms of aerodynamics, all it would do is put unneccesary bending forces (=fatigue) on the wings. What they do on the A320 though, to my knowledge also on the A330/340, is with trailing edge flap extension both ailerons droop downwards by 5 de...
