Rule of law and standard practice. Its done this way for a reason no matter how some may think its dumb. Yes. Same for Canada’s AIF. Done for a reason, no matter how some may think it’s dumb. Question your government. Well airport infrastructure is funded by the airport improvement fee. Last time I...
Jump to postIf I show up to YYC tomorrow with a 10lb bag of potatoes would that be enough to trade for a flight to YVR?
Jump to postIf it's their credit card processor that's refusing to book then what is happening at the airports with payment for checked luggage or seat selection? The two must be related? Could this be more Sabre or whoever their GDS system architecture is supplying them? Either way, day three and no word from...
Jump to postI just tried a dummy booking on the wife's iPad using Chrome in incognito mode and it worked. Not sure if it'll take payment though as I'm not going to go that far just to test it.
Jump to postI just found the Flair reddit page (unofficial) and users there are having the same issue we are with some users who have bookings saying they can't pay for seat selection or check-in online. Another user said their payment was declined, can't get a hold of customer service etc.
Jump to postThe question remains... why has the airline in question not issued a response to qualm public speculation? That is what I find odd. We can't be the only ones having this issue. I asked a few friends to try dummy bookings and they're all getting the same result we are, but I don't see any mention of...

I'm just wondering how a collapse of 777 would affect Flair.
Flair Airlines leases 12 aircraft directly from 777 Partners. 777 has 25% equity stake in Flair.

I don't think I've seen an AC flight from YYC-YYZ/YUL/YVR and vice versa with a load less than 80% for a long time. Even during the so called shoulder seasons. I imagine it's a similar story for WS flights between those cities too.
Jump to postBut wouldn't the higher CASM A321's be generating higher RASM at mainline vs Rouge? Wouldn't it make sense to have the lower CASM aircraft (MAX) at Rouge to operate lower yield routes to sun destinations?
Jump to postI don't think a profitable airline would have four aircraft repossessed, have to take loans out at payday loan interest rates, and be so far behind with taxes owed that the CRA would get a court order to seize assets if need be.

you just connect the hoses, as they do on every 737, and press the button... there's a 'narrow', 'wide', and 'jumbo'. Not rocket science. That's what I meant by set up. You have to select the right setting on the control panel for both hoses to run. That's IF their ground handlers even know there's...
Jump to postWestJet continues a policy of running the APU on the 787 fleet when the planes are on the ground in Calgary, no matter what, including all RON aircraft regardless of outside air temp. I conservatively estimate this burn to be a million litres for 2023, though it's far more likely to be between 1.5 ...
Jump to postYou hit the nail on the head. However, AMS is going to (partially) automate putting luggage in the containers and carts. The aim is to go for 90% automation. [*] Assuming it was an issue with the handler, not the airport. More than likely it was an issue with Menzies who handles Flair and Sunwing in YOW. Apparently their level of service has been so bad that Ottawa Airport Authority has put them on 30 days notice to shape up or they'll pull their operati...
Jump to postI wonder which other vendors/creditors haven't been paid on time by Flair? I assume Aircraft Lease payments would be pretty high priority for an airline to pay on time. I wonder how Flair is treating their vendors like Ground Handling outfits etc.
Jump to postIF this really is just lessors trying to get out of lease agreements with low pandemic lease rates so they can lease those tails to other airlines at higher rates as some have suggested, then it still looks bad on Flair considering they were in arrears on already lower than market rate leases.

If this does become another 9/11 type economic hit for airlines, at least the industry is in much better financial shape to weather a storm than it was on 9/11. Especially the North American carriers.
Jump to postWould/could Boeing be on the hook for pretty large compensation costs to the airlines considering the grounding is costing them millions of dollars a day?

Hello past, present, and future ramp rats..... I'm curious, how old is the GSE at your station? Where I work (AC in YYC), we have a mix of old and new GSE. The latest trend being towards replacing older gasoline/propane powered baggage tugs with new electric ones. Our fleet is about 50/50 so far. P...
Jump to postLike you said, introductory fares. WS has a long and hard battle ahead of them. They didn't get those 787s for the same price as AC, and their labour costs are creeping up there. Jump to postAnybody know if these 321's are containerized or bulk loaded? All Wow 320s & 321s are bulk loaded. Thanks. I know the current A321's at Rouge are containerized. Jump to postI've been a ramp worker for AC for years. Here's my take on the whole container vs bulk argument. For ramp loading turn times, containers are far superior, however that doesn't mean the 737 is useless compared to the Airbus for loading cargo. It can carry the weight, it's just that loading them is m...
Jump to postI just tried a dummy booking on Flair's website. YYC-YVR in mid June. Without paying for any carry-on or checked baggage it can be had for as low as $160 with tax. Jump to postI wonder what's going to happen to YYC-NRT once the 763's are gone? I imagine they’d most likely use the 788 again or if not maybe the 789, but oddly enough it’s currently scheduled through the summer as a 763 for now even though it usually has switched to 788 for the summer. That's what I'm hoping...

Jump to postYou are probably thinking of Expertflyer. That website tells you how many seats (0 to >9) in each booking class (Y, W, B, S, O etc) an airline is willing to sell. Jump to postSupply and demand. Just like everything else. If AS/QX can't get enough pilots then obviously they're not compensating pilots enough.

I used to fly HKG-KHH regularly on Dragonair. Flight is just over an hour and always got a hot meal in Y. Usually some kind of noodle dish.
Not sure if that's still the case these days.
