I agree that AF is better. But now that BA no longer serve anything on a flight less than 2 / 2 hours nor do they even sell food I would rate KLM better than BA on short hauls.

In regards to the breakfast in the 1970s they would serve a hot breakfast. But I paid US$750 in 1979 from Athens to New York R/T. I still have the copy of the ticket.

How things have changed in 20 + years.

I may be wrong but I think that before you download on Photobucket you have to reduce the size of the picture to about 800 pictels.

What a nightmare. I am a "pessimist by nature" so when I book a flight or a hotel through Expedia etc, I call the airline and the hotel directly to see that everything is in order in their computer. After reading your story that is the first thing I will do. I hope Expedia refunds you every penny.

A Kenyan friend told me that Delta was supposed to start Atlanta to Nairobi via Dakar but it has been delayed. Apparently there are 300,000 Kenyans in America and they are eager for Delta to start the new route.

How long does it take to drive to Mombasa. Thanks for the great pictures.

Nice story. I flew on Eastern to Mexico City on a B727 from La Guardia with a stop in Atlanta and it was exhausting. The return from Acapulco on a Lockheed 1011 was a lot better. I was never crazy about them though. But they were efficient.

One of the nicest flights I ever took was on Air Santo Domingo on a Czech plane. It was from a small grass airport (forgot the name) to Puerto Plata.

Unfortunately they stopped operating. I remember the 727s of Dominicana de Aviacion. They were unable to compete against the big US airlines.

Sorry I now realise you said you had 2 separate tickets. That is the danger of making a connection with this type of arrangement.

AZ refused to do this for the same reason but luckily I had 5 hours in Rome to recheck.
