As long as there are seats available in your cabin (not fare class) then you can change for free. You can change any time on the day after midnight UK time, up to 1 hour before departure. According to my Flight Memory, i've logged 91 x 747-400, with BA, VS, BR, UA, SQ, TG, NH, MH, LH, CA & NZ. I did a few more flights when I was younger too. Caught the 747Combi with CA, the 747-8i with LH and the 747-400D (short range) with NH.

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't understand why more than 25 hours between flights is necessary. Sure, a 19 hour duty day is long and challenging. You can nearly guarantee that if the flight operates from Terminal 3 at LHR, then it is the denser (52J) 744 (with the unrefreshed interiors). Destinations include CPT, LAS, YVR, NBO. JFK also gets them, as there is one on the way right now (BA115).

BA are filling their CPT flights very easily, and the fares aren't cheap. Adding the LGW-CPT flights, as well as an extra few rotations from LHR jan-Mar is catering to the very high numbers of tourists visiting SA. This is peak tourist time.

CTU-ORD seems reasonable. SZX-VIE less so. VIE only got a HKG flight relatively recently, I can't think of many people needing to go from Shenzhen to Vienna!

I guess you've not sat in the nose then? Very quiet in there. If you walk from front to rear in flight you'll notice a massive difference in noise levels.

They don't serve alcohol, if that's important to you, but you can drink your own onboard. If you can get a stopover in Brunei, it's well worth doing for a day or two.
