Looking post-modern (see: more and more Chinese airports) does not a pleasant experience make. ICN is a vastly overrated hub. The security area is tight, smoke from the smoking "lounges" regularly seeps out, seating is scarce, and post-security food options are a let-down-- while on my wa...Jump to post
AA is being faster in renovating their lounges and planes. That's for sure.
Even the implementation of the PY looks likes is going at a rapid pace.
I hope eventually the circumstances that will enable LATAM to be what it should be at EZE come together: Argentinian economy recovers, Argentinian market de-regulates, LATAM head office in Santiago realizes Buenos Aires is the second largest economic center in South America. In a scenario of normal...Jump to post

Governments may come and go but the rules to play in Brazil tend to stay the same. TAM was never a government owned airline. There are still a lot of influential people in Brazil who had ties to Varig. TAP themselves are still government owned and Fernando Pinto, who is now in charge of TAP was Var...Jump to post
A few weeks back, there was an article published in ch-aviation that indicated a possible JV between TAP, Azul, Hainan and United Airlines. I don't see how United comes into this picture given their long standing JV with the Lufthansa group. A TATL JV between TAP/Azul/United and potentially B6 woul...Jump to post
I see all these number and then I realize that the state of São Paulo (not the city) have at least 400.000 people with Japanese background. Quite impressive and different from the US. If only the Brazilian government were not corrupt (I like to dream people), I could imagine quite a stronger economi...Jump to post
Um, yeah.... I’ll just move along now. Jesus take the wheel, what did I just read here? You read what you should have listened: tango. It is full of drama and sometimes may ends in a disaster :) There are so many ways to look at this history. I dunno if we will ever know it. If I was her I would tr...Jump to post
I don't think British Airways is a premium airline at all. Right now they should change their name to "Flying" as it is getting more similar to "Vueling" than to Iberia. The good thing about JJ in LHR is the pre-departure @T3. Why? Now they can use the Cathay Pacific lounge which...Jump to post
Back to GRU please. Someone also need to bring rates SAmerica to Japan/Asia down asap! I highly doubt it. It has been 7 years that JAL has stopped flying to GRU via JFK. In the meantime we now have EK, QR, ET, TK and had KE, EY and SQ to Asia. In my experience the ME3 + ET are the ones taking the t...Jump to post
Embraer will approach an american airline company and offer their E2 with huge discounts.
Airbus will say that this is illegal and blah blah blah
I wonder lol
At SCL, LATAM will venture into high risk routes and will tolerate losses for an extended period of time to see the viability of those routes mature. Lan Chile is run like an entrepreneurial start-up. The rest of LATAM is just producing rent. LATAM's major shareholders are the Cueto family and the ...Jump to post
I think Qatar /QR have managed to get a great amount of brazilian passengers going to Asia/Japan. Last month I did DOH-HND and NRT-DOH. There was a lot of brazilians on these flights. Plus the ability to do a stopover in Doha and with the recent visa free policy I think they will get even more pax i...Jump to post
For the first time since the Brazilian economic downturn, BA will fly to GIG daily, this time with the 787-8 as follows: This brings EU-GIG service to: - TP/AD 10x weekly from LIS - LH/SQ 7x from FRA - AF/G3 7x from CDG - KL/G3 7x from AMS - BA/JJ 7x from LHR - AZ 7x from FCO - IB/JJ 4x weekly from...Jump to post

So Ryanair doesn't allow electronic boarding passes simply so they can charge $60 if you lose your printed one? Nope, you got it wrong. If you have their app you can download the boarding pass directly to your phone. I kind of wondered. So if you don't print at home and don't have a smart phone the...Jump to post
I see your point, but I believe it would be really hard to get Brazilians and/or Argentinians to go for their sun-and-beach holidays to Réunion or Mauritius, two costly places where even language would be a major issue, when they have just as spectacular (if not even better) beaches at home ...at l...Jump to post
what a great FR to read. Congrats! :) I really feel sad that SQ does not fly to Brazil anymore. I remember that by entering the airplane at GRU I could already feel like I was in Singapore. About the SQ C seat. I think it is gorgeous and huugee! But I can never have a good sleep whenever I'm in it. ...Jump to post
JJ tried and surely managed to offer a great customer experience before being acquired by LA. That's a fact. Right now it is just an average airline with an average product and average customer service. Just like LAN is and always will be. They do not manage to be on the forefront of anything. Thanks Polot for the correction. With the new law in Brazil foreign airlines can fully take over a Brazilian airline, is that correct? Even though I don't see LATAM allowing that to happen. A388 I actually think the Cueto family are clueless about what to do with Latam Brasil. So I would not be sur...Jump to post
Nice review! I had the chance to use this lounge last month. It's an oasis.
Lounges at T3 are really putting BA lounges to shame, don't you think?
The American Airlines arrivals lounge is also pretty damm good!
And today was also the day that Air China changed it's equipment, from A332 to B789 with more Y seats.
The flight is PEK-MAD-GRU.
Fact is your "obvious markets" have been nothing short of a bloodshed for foreign operators for the past two years. Trash yields, downgauging equipment, cutting back services and/or leaving Brazil altogether. Don't see that happening in the rest of the neighborhood. You just forgot to men...Jump to post
I also learned that LA will take over the GRU-MXP with de 787-9 instead of the JJ A350 that will operate the SCL-MEL due the crew rest issue on the 787 ..... My guess is that LAN isnt seeing the potencial it has on they very own hands because of the lack of management . They underestimated the braz...Jump to post
- 3 A350 will remain at JJ, out of 7 that they have received so far. They will be used in the GRU-MAD and GRU-CDG. This last route won't be used on a daily basis since they will also deploy a B77W. Out of these 4 planes, I think 2 will be leased for 6 months and 2 for 1 year. There have been some re...Jump to post

A wise move. Terminal 7 is a dump. Even after UA decamped to EWR for its PS service last year, the facility is bursting at the seams and can't cope with all the traffic it handles. I did flew both the 787 and the A332 on the GRU-BOG-LAX route. The GRU-BOG is done with a 332. Their interior is really outdated and the biz class seats are not working properly. I don't agree with your points of view. Of course Brazil is a much larger country, but that is why it has more competition in routes to GRU or GIG. You are comparing a country of 200M with a country of 30-40M (Argentina) and another one much smaller (Chile). Regarding who travels more, dunno. As it...Jump to post
Avianca Brasil (O6) have IFE in all their aircrafts but the A318.
Azul (AD)also have IFE with live tv on their aircraft.
LATAM Brasil (JJ) has decided to put the app for download that serves as IFE. I've tried a lot and it is pretty reliable. They just need to put USB or AC power on their planes.
Hey leyland1989! Great FR! Nice pics! I also agree with you. JAL have a very good economy class. I did travel with them on the CGK-NRT and NRT-DFW. The first in the 789 and the last in the 788. Hey guys. First time posting, long time reader. Brasilian families with portuguese background don't really consider themselves portuguese, since they've been in Brasil for hundreds of years. I state this as British/Australian: it would be unthinkable for QF/NZ/SA/SQ/CX etc to cease serving LON - the former colonial ties to 'home' remain very strong, even if these days they are cultural over anything legal. I don't think TAM / JJ has ever flown to LIS before.
I think Varig and Vasp did.
What happened is that Azul has taken over the VCP-LIS route that was operated by TP.
TP and AD are getting more cooperation as time goes by.
After the alliance change, JJ is now much closer to IB.
